The opposition United Workers Party (UWP) is expressing profound sadness following the passing of former President, His Excellency Dr. Nicholas J.O Liverpool.
Dr. Liverpool passed away on Monday.
In a release on Tuesday the UWP said the news of his passing was received with “profound sadness and a sense of loss.”
“Dr. Liverpool served Dominica with distinction on many fronts- from academia, the judiciary, and public office- to name a few,” the party said. “His last role in public service was to serve as the 6th president of the Commonwealth of Dominica. Our prayers and thoughts are with Dr. Liverpool’s widow, Mrs. Verna Liverpool, their children, his family and friends at this time. While the sense of loss and grief may be at times overwhelming, may they find solace in the fact that the name of their husband, father and friend has been indelibly marked in the history books of our island state.”
The release continues, “The United Workers’Party, joins the Community of Grand Bay, Dominica and Dominicans both here and abroad in mourning the loss of one of Dominica’s brightest luminaries and we would like to place on public record our gratitude for Dr. Liverpool’s contribution to the Development of the Commonwealth of Dominica.”

Anyway, if he does not do so, they will not miss his condolence. There will be enough of their people, family, friends and associates, near and far who will express their condolence and support them at such a sad time.
We never rejoice at the passing of anyone for one day, when we least expect it, we, too will die. Who knows at what age, when and how? This is why we should ever be kind and compassionate. Know that our salvation depends on our earthly attitude toward others. You should know the Holy Spirit scrutinizes our works for our judgment.

So, in other words you are indicating that life has become worst in Dominica. I must agree with you, because I am one of those people who ate roast breadfruit, and salt fish for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There was flour, but people did not have the money to buy the bread.
So we sometimes eat cooked bananas and drank either lemon, lime leaf tea or cacao tea with it, and of to school go. Nobody bow, and crawl to politicians, the politicians themselves were dirt poor too.
That was prior to State Hood, an independence the politicians had very little to steal, and if they did the British Government would investigate them. Only one man in the legislator I remember practiced some corruption, and that is the man (I doh) calling him name but he used to buy poor people house in Roseau for less than they owed in property tax.
Theses days, people are acting like hungry dogs on an eating frenzy crawling on their belly at Skerrit’s feet begging for food; that’s a shame!

If we look back on the background, the history of many Dominicans, you will find the majority of them were born and brought up in the country parts. Many went on to be intellectuals and to excel.
