Croatia, a nation in Europe, has established diplomatic relations with Dominica.

A joint statement on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries was signed in New York on Tuesday by Croatian Ambassador to the United Nations Ranko Vilovic and Dominican Ambassador to the UN, Vince Henderson.

Croatia is a country situated in the Balkans and in Central Europe. It is to the east side of the Adriatic Sea, to the east of Italy. It is bordered by Slovenia to the northwest, Hungary to the north, Bosnia and Herzegovina to the southeast, Serbia in the east, and Montenegro to the south.

It has a population of 4.28 million, most of whom are Croats, with the most common religious denomination being Roman Catholicism.

International Monetary Fund data shows that Croatian nominal GDP stood at $63.842 billion, or $14,457 per capita, at the same time in 2011 while purchasing power parity GDP was $80.334 billion or $18,191 per capita.

Dominicans who have never lived outside of da and making those negative comments need to shut the hell up get educated and stay off this site until you can contribute in a positive way. Croatia is a beautiful and free country. I lived there for a while I felt very safe among friendly ppl. I am Dominican.

I’m pleased you married a lovely man. However, if you were a queen in lovely Croatia, and I admit the country is beautiful, how comes you chose nevertheless to live in Dominica? Genuinly curious.

This is one country Dominicans should not worry about. Dominica cannot go wrong in establishing diplomatic relations with Croatia.
Croatians fought for their rights. They were persecuted also for their Catholic faith and suffered for it. Through that war many of their people died. God was with them and continues to be with them. They are blest by no other but God.
For the critics, every country has its share of problems. Where there are people, there will always be problems and some of them are outsiders who create those problems.

Lest we forget, many Croats also fought on the side of Hitler during the second world war and were aligned to the Nazis in Germany and Musolini’s facists in Italy through their own dreades Ustase organisation. Because they are predominantly catholic, as are you and I, does not alter these historical facts. It is indeed a beaufiful country and I hope that they are able to live in unison with their neighbours in an enlarged E.U., especially the Serbs but there is no need to go overboard with one-sided praise.

‘and I, does not alter these historical facts.’ You who appear to know so much, what type of English is that?
You still do not know anything. It was either the fought or it was their life. Hitler was wicked enough to exterminate them. I leave that up to God’s judgment which you have no right to question, state or judge.
People must defend themselves. They are Catholics; Not non-Catholics. Generally Catholic Christians live in peace and harmony. Those enemies are the ones who are involved in cleansing ethnics. They cannot stand to people living in peace and will not allow them to live in peace. Blame them. I am reiterating that God was on the side of the Croatians, still is and always will be. I read enough about it.
Dominica has an excellent alliance with Croatia.

Croatia is set to become the 28th member state of the European Union on 1 July 2013.
Croatia applied for EU membership in 2003 and the European Commission recommended making it an official candidate in early 2004. Candidate country status was granted to Croatia by the European Council in mid-2004. The entry negotiations, while originally set for March 2005, began in October that year together with the screening process. The accession process of Croatia was complicated by the insistence of Slovenia, an EU member state, that the two countries’ border issues be dealt with prior to Croatia’s accession to the EU.
Croatia finished accession negotiations on 30 June 2011[2] and on 9 December 2011 signed the Treaty of Accession to become the bloc’s 28th member. The ratification process, by the parliaments of all 27 EU member states, is expected to be concluded by the end of June 2013. Therefore, entry into force and accession of Croatia to the EU is expected to take place on 1 July 2013.[3]
A referendum on EU accession was held in Croatia on 22 January 2012, with 66 percent of participants voting in favour of joining the Union.[4][5][6][7]
Croatian public opinion has been generally supportive of the EU accession process. Spikes in euroscepticism have occasionally happened, for example in April 2011 due to the association of the Hague tribunal with the EU.
