Filipino workers banned from eleven Caribbean countries, includes Dominica

The government of the Philippines has announced a ban on the deployment of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to 41 countries, including 11 in the Caribbean.

The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) last week adopted the recommendation of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) to stop the deployment of OFWs to countries that lack laws to protect their rights.

It is not so much that those countries lack Laws but that visualize migration of Philippinos to those small countries of all in droves. They would be taking away jobs from residents.
There are many of them in Canada who were mistreated in various respects. Today the government has revised its Laws on their employment and proper treatment by their employers.
I do not think that the government of the Caribbean specifically the small islands in the West Indies should encourage their migration for reasons as previously specified.
Why can’t their own people employ them in their country as caretakers and babysitters? Government of Dominica beware of this migration.

Why are Dominicans so stupid at times?

Why don’t they take time to read and understand an article before they start runing their mouths?

It was a decision taken by the Philipino Government not to allow its people to accept work in these countries due to improper laws that would protect their rights as human beings.

The inability of Dominica to protect the rights of people is what we Dominicans should take notice of. All the Dominicans living in developed countries including the US, Canada and the Uk to mention a few have rights whether they are legal of illegal.

Why do we expect rights in another mans land and they cannot expect the same in return.

Dominicans WAKE UP, READ AND BROADEN YOUR SCOPE OF ISSUES…
DAMN DOES THE COUNTIES PEOPLE HAVE TO REMAIN SIMPLE FOREVER???????

Phillipines don’t follow laws themselves. There are countless cases of this area violating human rights in their own country. takes one to know one!

This is total nonsense however you look at it. How the hell can we be bringing, allow or even consider allowing Philiopino workers to come to the country when the country has no jobs for its own people. Is this a joke and certainly not something we should seriously get vexed about…. instead we should look to how we can begin to lift our country out of the darkness that has fallen upon it in recent years.

I THINK WHAT THEY WANTED TO SAY IS THAT THE LAWS IN DOMINICA WILL NOT ALLOW THEM THE OPPORTUNITY TO COME DOWN HERE AND SPOIL OUR COUNTRY AND AS A RESULT THEY WILL FIND OTHER COUNTRIES WITH MORE FAVORABLE LAWS TO SUIT THEM AND THEIR AGENDA. I AM DOMINICA.

what kind of protection do they want, are they special brand people? once they have the right document they need to work in a country they should be ok.

I dont see the point they are talking about.

What nerve! The Phillipines have almost no protection for their citizens that are exported to sex brothels around the world especially in other Asian countries. They get into nursing to escape being sent to brothels. To silent the arrogant ones who try to treatbpeople like crab, we tell them that you were the lucky one to make tom the USA now where is your sister? They treat other people in a very inhumane manner…..just ask the Dominican employees at child fund about their slave master from the Philipines. Who is protecting them?
God bless us all. Do I hear an amen?

    Oh Please
Dominica does not protect the right of locals do you really thing they would protect any one. The only rights this country protect is Chinese.

Remember when Blackmore wanted the police to arrest this local that had an issue with a Chinese man in Mahuat, even when everyone said the Chinese was wrong.
