Parliamentary Representative for the Petite Savanne constituency, Kenneth Darroux, has revealed that some newly relocated Dubique residents will benefit from jobs under the National Employment Program (NEP).
“Right now I’m in the process of trying to create employment for a number of residents of the new Dubique community, under the National Employment Program,” he divulged, on Friday, during a tour of the newly-completed settlement.
He spoke of various vacancies within the Ministry of Health and other ministries and noted that in two weeks, about twenty-five persons within the community should be employed.
“So, in the next two weeks or so, we should see about twenty-five young people or family members of the community employed. So they will be earning a sustainable income,” Darroux said. “Getting a new home is one thing, but maintenance, sustainability is another thing.”
Under the NEP, unemployed people are placed in public and private sector firms. The government then pays the salaries of those employed.
In March, Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit, announced that about 1,200 persons are now employed through the program.
Meanwhile, National Security, Rayburn Blackmoore, credited the completed resettlement project to the leadership of the Dominica Labour Party (DLP).
“This development could not have been possible without having a government that cares,” he commented. “It is because of the fundamental principle and the philosophy of the Labour Party, that is why you, the people of Dubique, are enjoying a new development.”
He insisted that “the Labour Party is the most progressive party in the history of Dominica… There is no better party than the Dominica Labour Party, and there is no better Prime Minister than Roosevelt Skerrit.”
He assured the residents of Dubique that the government will develop the area into a model community.
one question!!! the people who have gotten these homes can they develop them…like do additions..a front porch and so though..fencing…just saying would take away the bantus town outlook.don’t get me wrong this effort is greatly appreciated from my prospective, but I am still looking out for my people
These deluded laborites sound like they are living in a dream. When will they ever wake up to reality?
Good job guys keep it up we need program like this all over.
Walls should be built on the edge of these houses foundation because erosion will sooner or later was the soil away and ruin the house during stormy weather..
the project is incomplete because they need road, retaining wall to hold up the dirt, and they must plant trees to hold up the soil which in turn will protect the foundations.
Its time we do 100% and we must do things that we will do for ourselves, at lease before moving the people in we must/should take more pride in doing so………… LET US MOVE THE COUNTRY FORWARD
ALL the planting and wall building and road building can take place now but the people needed homes …they were all schacked together so i think that getn them settled in was priority
Kudos to you Parl Rep….always looking out for his constituents….A man for his people and with his people….Continue the hard work bro……you will reap your reward….CANT KEEP A GOOD MAN DOWN!!!
NEP= never ending poverty! They cant even go to the AID BANK to get a loan on their nep! smh
How again can you all create employment?Wonder if this minister even knows what is a sustainable job!!!!! I DOUBT HE KNOWS!
NEP will soon be a dead letter folks, as the Passport sales will soon drop.
How long can they expect citizens in the world to keep on purchasing passports?
let’s get real! this is a fragile module to be sustaining…..
Dominica will end up like Venezula sooner than later…
