On Friday Dominica celebrated Creole Day and the island came alive with Creole colors.

DNO took to the streets and grabbed some shots. Also some of the photos were sent to us via Facebook, WhatsApp and the like.

True representation of Dominica’s culture and beauty!

This is an attraction with historical significance worthy of promotion. Such dazzling color and beauty! A window showing much to celebrate typical of the island itself!

The children decked out in such colors are gorgeous. Each little outfit was carefully made or selected by a parent or loved one who wanted the best for that young person on such a special day. It displays a side of island life often taken for granted.

I don’t think Dominicans make enough of what they are and all the island holds that would be of interest to visitors. You enjoy it yourselves but just assume it is no big deal and would not be of much interest to outsiders. You may be surprised! Many would like to know the history behind the attraction and its significance.

Thank you DNO for this focus. Feel free to share more with us.

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. International Evangelist. :-P

All great images, but my favorite is image 22. The facial expressions of each child in that classroom took me back to when I was that age, many moons ago.
    Thanks DNO.

I’ve lived in a few Caribbean islands and I must say, none of them can display their culture as well as we do. I just our demonstration of art and culture. Thanks DNO for these great photos. These trucks just toke me back home sitting miles away from Dominica. I remember those days as a little boy, trying to make my own truck with bobbin wheels, nails, wood and feeling so proud once I could get the ‘wheels” to turn. Ya, these were great days. These are just some of the things that make us Dominica and I really miss that being away from Home.
