Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao congratulates Prime Minister Skerrit on his re-election

Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, His Excellency, Wen Jiabao has sent a letter to Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit congratulating him on his party’s  victory in the December 18th 2009 General Elections.

In the letter dated December 21st 2009, the Chinese Premier wrote:

“On learning with pleasure of your re-election to Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, I wish to extend to you, on behalf of the Chinese people and in my own name, warm congratulations and best wishes.

“Thanks to your own initiative and promotion, the People’s Republic of China and the Commonwealth of Dominica established diplomatic relations in 2004. Over the past 5 years we have seen smooth development in our bilateral relations, enhancing mutual political trust and enlarging mutually beneficial cooperation, the economic and trade, agricultural, educational, public health and other fields.

“It has been proven that the China-Dominica cooperation, mutually beneficial and friendly, serves the fundamental and long-term interests of both our two countries and two peoples. The Chinese Government attaches great importance to developing friendly ties with Dominica and is ready to work with Dominica to further promote exchanges and cooperation with Dominica in all areas, in an effort to expand and deepen our bilateral relations.

“I wish you new achievements, under such an important mantle, in leading the Dominican people to proceed with the great cause of building your nation.”
