The ruling Dominica Labour Party (DLP) will be holding a major public meeting in Lagon on Thursday night and the focus will be on leader of the United Workers Party (UWP), Lennox Linton.

PRO of the DLP, Dr. Philbert Aaron, told DNO that Linton will be the main topic on the agenda.

“It is to expose Lennox Linton for the fake that he is and to bring home to the Dominican people that at this critical point in time, Lennox Linton does not have what it takes to lead this country into a prosperous future,” he said. “Dominica deserves better.”

He said although other features are expected at the meeting, “the risk posed by Lennox Linton” will take center stage.

“So we are inviting people to turn out,” Aaron stated.

The party’s top leadership, including prime minister Roosevelt Skerrit, is expected to address the meeting.

Tonight’s meeting follows closely on the heels of DLP accusations that Linton plagiarized the speech of his colleague, Allen Chastanet of the St. Lucia United Workers Party citing a number of documents which allegedly pointed to Linton using uncredited material from a speech delivered by Chastanet in 2013.

However, Chastanet told DNO that he doesn’t consider the matter plagiarism because both he and Linton share similar ideas, philosophies and visions for their respective countries.

The meeting will be held under the theme ““Dominica Deserves Better/Lennox Linton Must Go!”

A release from the party reads, “The “Dominica Deserves Better/Lennox Linton Must Go!” public meeting is called to discuss the grave developments relating to the candidacy of UWP novice, unqualified Leader, Lennox Linton and the danger his lack of integrity poses for the future prosperity of Dominica. The public meeting will hear an address by DLP Political Leader, Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit, Prime Minister of Dominica at 10: 30 pm. ”

The DLP’s Facebook page is promising the meeting is going to be a “big one.”

“Come to Lagon on Thursday at 7 pm and hear Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit and his Labour party colleagues reveal the facts of who is real and who is fake, who lied to the nation and who told the truth,” the page said. “We have to have minimum standards for leadership in Dominica.”

Thurday night’s meeting is the first major gathering of the DLP since its rally in May in St. Joseph.
