DLP to invade Hector John’s turf tonight

John's seat was declared vacant after he boycotted parliament

The by-election campaign is heating up in Dominica as the Dominica Labour Party (DLP) takes its ‘victory train’ to the Salisbury constituency tonight.

This as the DLP campaign has begun for the July 9 by-elections in two constituencies.

General Secretary of the DLP Edward Registe says the party will be meeting in Coulibistrie this evening from 7 pm in support of Bentley Royer.

Royer contested that seat in the December 18, 2009 polls but lost, but he has been selected as the DLP’s candidate the second time around.

The elected Parliamentary Representative for Salisbury, the United Worker’s Party’s Hector John, has expressed confidence in retaining that seat for his party.

Hector’s seat was made vacant after missing three consecutive sittings of parliament.

i would like to know if the reasons that uwp stayed out of parlimentare met .? if not why are they taking part in this bi-election .the uwp are not standing up for nothing .i am from marigot ,and i taught uwp were genunin listening to them it does not make sence .when election was called in dec9 none of these things were in place .they went along get nominated and contest the election.if they had won would they clean up the voters list and call new elections or they would rule and axcept the resault.they file petitions in the high court ,then represent your people and await the court decision.when you win thistime are you going to represent your people?

Anti -Neo DLP,UWP,DFP even pappy Party. The fact is it's deja vu all over again. I would love to see John &James to apostles boycott again, again, again, again again, again again, again, again again, again………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..and again. This would be fun.The skerrit would import a few thousand Chinese & Haitians and land them in bawi & in afouahwee land to ensure ousting the proverbial James & John.

Mr. John is fighting against corruption. He is a clean man and the UWP are smart people. if there was no opposition people will have too much to say say. but now they are opposing the corruption we are saying they are little boys. only in dominica them thing can happen. we just have to accept lawlessness and move on. Now that is being stupid. besides if we are up to date with our knowledge about parliament we would understant the no time in our history parliament was called month after month. Mr. Skerrit say it was unfortunate but it was planned. Dominicans it is So obvious.

If Spaggs were to win (which from all reports he will), can he boycott parliament again? If that were to happen, then I will go to the US embassy and give up my Dominican citizenship.

The uwp candidates must stop behaving like little boys and get serious. They have gone to court for their issues which is where one gets redress. In the meantime go to the house and represent the people who have voted you all in. The ruling part have not denied them of anything but the uwp is costing the govt time and money while they have the people's business to look about.
