Journalist and talk show host Lennox Linton is calling on Attorney General Levi Peters to be honest with the Dominican people about his position regarding lawyer Stephen Isidore’s judicial review submission.
Peters dismissed allegations that his office is in support of Isidore’s position before the court. But Linton said he is sticking to his statements and would not apologise.
“I am not sure what he attended to achieve but I am sure that he now has some regret about coming to the public and not been able to explain himself. He was unable to contradict the essence of what I had brought to the public,” he said.
Linton said the Attorney General’s Office-represented by attorneys working in the AG’s office-brought different positions on the application by Isidore for leave for judicial review of the Magistrate’s decision to accept the criminal charges against him and issue a warrant for his arrest.
“On one day in December last year one attorney claiming to represent the Attorney General’s office told the court that the AG’s office would oppose the application for leave for judicial review and on the following day that attorney disappeared, to create the opportunity for the appearance of another attorney who had a totally different position, that the AG’s office would no longer oppose the application for judicial review. The question Mr. Peter needs to answer to the people of Dominica is why that dramatic turnaround in the AG’s position within the space of a single day,” Linton said.
The AG was out of his depth with the media. I suspect he shall never have another press confrence. What a POOR performance. I giving him 7 out of 100%. He was terrible, a joke for that matter. I pray for him.

I listened to the AG and he sounds very rude and condesending and unaware of what his job is. First, he says that as AG, he did not instruct any lawyer on anything to do with the case, whether for or against. Then at the end he says that the lawyer who told the court that the Gov’t would not be contesting the matter, was acting on his instructions. Excuse me if I seem confused but this is some real stupid stuff right there. He also said that the first lawyer received instructions from someone who he refuses to name, and that lawters report to him after they come from court, but why would the lawyer report to him if she was not acting under his instruction. I would have thought that a mayyer of this magnitude would require intense discussion within the AG’s office and that a decision would be made then as to who would represent the Gov’t and what argument was going to be presented. So Mr. Peter it seems you have started out on the wrong foot and would be well advised to think carefully before you next decide to grace the public with such hot air, because sir, you’ve done yourself no favours this time around.

Why is Lennox Linton speaking for the attorneys who one time enjoyed a very private practice? Oh, by the way, when Lennox and Angelo on the infamous “Boxing day” show demonstrated great contempt for the judicial system they love to hate when the broke the “Gag” order that Emanuel himself applied for and got for the files in the case, it was Tony Astaphans who reminded them by another court action that they had shown contempt for the law. Even then Lennox, Matt, Fontaine in Maryland and Christian in Washington and others gave the impression to listeners to Q 95, that the “Gag” order was placed by Tony Astaphans in his attempts to muzzle the press with the able support of the Prime Minister. What is rather astounding in this matter is the silence of those who applied for and received the “gag” order on November 25th 2010. Up to this day they have shown very little interest in the “gag” being broken by Lennox and Angelo. I wonder why is “Follow” and the strange accent speaking lawyer from Dominica on “follow’s” team has not spoken or expressd disgust with Lennox defying the court order.
Two other matters. Will the Dominican public eventually see Lennox and KPB agreeing on anything? It would seem that for political expediency, arising out of the Layou River BVI saga, Lennox and KPB are burying the hatchette to prove “Skerrit’s lawyer” is a criminal. Is KPB doing some forensic on the accounts for “Follow” and Lennox. What was the reason for that lunch time appointment at a famous downtown hotel on Wednesday January 12th 2011?
Finally. which one of us in a moment of sheer embarassment will not use whatever shortcomings in the law availabel to us for securing our good name.if there is any man in Dominica who will not use the existing law and constitutional guarantees to their advantage? I see you’ve got quite a bit to say, unfortunately though as is usual with persons of your ilk, you are talking out of your rectum.
Firstly let me inform you that one can only show or be in contempt if he is aware of, or the decision of the court is directed at him. Lennox did not show contempt on Boxing Day night and would only have done so if after being made aware of the court order, he continued to make statements. Tony however was in contempt when he distributed the contents of the sealed file to persons not connected to the case. He was also out of order to attempt to serve papers on Lennox et al, since he does not have the authority to do so.
While it is true that Mr. Isidore is not the one who sought the gag order, I am sure that he is quite happy for it. The lawyers for U follow sought that order to avert the argument being brought that he is not capable of having a fair trial, which as you said is using the rules of the court to one’s advantage. Isidore’s side is happy to not have the details of the charges in the public domain because as you may well know, and I believe you do know, this case involves other major players in the government.
On your final point; your argument is the one which lacks common sense. You obviously have not heard of money laundering and the various methods used to achieve the criminal’s aim. It also shows you total lack of understanding of how things work in real life.

Every time I put my trust in a public official, I understand that they are opposed to the government because they were not given favors or with the government because they are given favors.
People we are visitors on this Earth and it is best to leave a positive legacy. Mr PM, you cannot take all this alledged aquired wealth with you but you can the negative label of selling out the country to the Foreigners. You may not care since you are concerned about the moment but just think whether the degrading environment is one you would love for your grandkids under foreign control. I understand that the handouts are drying up and I see no major accomplishments to speak off. You are going to regret that you did not create a more positive environment.

I would let Lennox Speak. He’s the only reporter that seems to dig and investigate what is really going on. We must also not forget that he is responsible for the admission of guilt to wrong doings by this administration. The mere fact he caused a refund to be paid to the treasury for taxes owed on a land transfer deal gives credence to his abilities. We must also not forget the bin and fertilizer embezzlement where he also caused substantial refunds to be received by the people of Dominica. Both of these refunds in my mind shows that crimes were committed and corrected by a simple refund. No where else in the world this would be acceptable. I will not speak for Mr. Linton, as he’s shown he’s fully capable of speaking for himself. But we should all be interested and concerned, if not terrified. These are definitely NOT the private affairs of two attorneys who had a business break up. Instead, it shows the government’s legal office adopting diametrically opposite positions on an issue within the course of a few hours, an AG who is not in control of his office and is seemingly clueless about who is authorising the positions advocated by state attorneys in court.

For a start, there is the matter of $1,911,937 paid by West Indies Power B.V., allegedly misappropriated by Mr. Isidore. What were these payments in aid of? How was that money subsequently disbursed by Mr. Isidore? If it was a license fee payable to the Govt. in respect of the granting of geothermal exploitation rights it should have found its way into the treasury coffers. Did it? If it were a simple matter of alleged theft from one partner by another I would agree with you but in the absence of any explanations by the appropriate authorities these are valid questions in the public interest.
Good question Cassandra. We may never know because one way or another Tony will not allow this case to go through the courts. If so this case will be an historical event.
