Any bye election without establishing definitely, and by which competent authority the Marigot and Salisbury seats are vacant, would be unconstitutional.
To date, neither the Speaker of the House, the Attorney General nor the Prime Minister, has informed the Citizens of Dominica, definitively, as to who has declared the Marigot and Salisbury seats vacant and by what authority. Therefore this call for Bye Elections should be considered unconstitutional.
The UWP will continue listening to our people and will represent strongly their call for integrity, honesty, good governance and a productive economy
The UWP will continue to insist on doing things right, following our Constitution, respecting our laws and expecting a full role for our Opposition
UWP stands firm for real democracy and denounces fraudulent elections, and as such UWP will continue working hard, advocating and mobilizing for electoral reform, such as, ID Cards, a Clean List, Fair Access to DBS and other State Media, adherence to Bribery Laws and free and fair elections.
Dominicans, near and far, should by now realize it is only by “breaking the silence of the night” and reaching out to each other, that justice will prevail, and trickery, deception, lies, greed, arrogance and other evils will fade away.

I think that the opposition has lost everything that they claim that they have been working hard for. These guys should have gone in Parliament and work harder to archive what they’ve been asking for. Further more, why contest these bye elections anyways. No electoral reform yet as they’ve been saying, Parliament is a fraudulent, everything about it is wrong. Mr. Green, give up Eddison thing for him and you go retire and remain in good health.

If the election was flawed and unfair why did Prevost go to the house? This clearly shows that the UWP is not united and cannot show that its decision was one of principle. I AGREE that UWP has lost its way and is being lead to peril by the likes of a dictator; Edison James. I pity those who support the action to boycott parliament and even more so Ron Green, Hector John and the others who blindly follow Edison James. I think the UWP needs a complete overhaul. Can anyone tell me what Mr Green is saying in his statement?. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand that the UWP has lost its way. One question that I want to ask is “why did Mr Norris Prevost go to the Parliament, take his oath and walk out ? Does that tell us that the Speaker is right? And he knows when a bye-election is called, he will lose his parliamentary ststus? Just checking

My Goodness. Ron! If I know that I have a matter in the High Court like what you guys have before the Judge likely to be heard next week or within 9 to 10 days time and you should know fully well that it may go in UWP favor I sure like hell going and at least steal your victory in the eyes of the public and have you on the back foot for as long as possible.
If I were the UWP I would ensure that my overseas Lawyers are on the Island 5 clear days before the court matter just to ensure there is no hanky panky with flights or Airport closing to prepare for simulated night landing trials.
Make sure you take my advice, otherwise that most important court case of the beginning of the 21st Century in Dominica will get postponed again till November 15 , 2010.
Now Sir you have to choose the battles you want to fight and ignore the others.
Any fool can see that the President is playing you all just to make money for the Treasury of Dominica. HE already knows that you all like lofice or Court plenty.
When the Inland Revenue start to investigate you all it will be another matter and Labour will declare that is all you that have plenty money and d evidence already mounting!!
It is so plain to see that while UWP fighting to regain parliamentary seats through the Courts the DLP is attacking your Marigot and Salisbury seats just to undermine you all confidence and sprit.
The only good thing that going for UWP right now is the fact that Prevost is Home safe and Skerrit cannot renounce French Citizenship and go up for Roseau Central anymore.
So my boy try and turn the momentum in UWP favor and call on all Dominicans and UWP supporters to attend the court hearing and call on the Private Sector to make it a partial public holiday by allowing their staff to march in Roseau from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for the sake of democracy , good governance, accountability, transparency, adherence to the constitution of Dominica, and no dual citizen running for election ever again in Dominica.

At some point in July when votes are cast again it will either be a victory vote or a victim vote and the real reciepients wil be those who can identify what that is. the fact is the DLP does not have to win it is just the right thing to do in light of the PR who has gone on a long vacation.

Stop making a fool of yourself. Mr. James and Mr. John are the ones who vacated their seats. The Speaker or any other authority in Dominica did not vacate their seats for them. If Mr. John and Mr. James consider themselves to have been violated, then there is the High Court to interprete the constitution. The constitution did provide for the High Court to come in when there is a constitutional crisis or when certain sections of the law require interpretation. But you know what you have taken the High Court and all our institutions to task on so many occasions and loss so that you are now ashamed to go back to the High Court for redress on this one. Instead you are depending on Lennox Linton to try to whip up public support (civil unrest, road blocks etc) for your ill advised position. But you must know that. for every one person you bring on the street, Mr. skerrit can bring out six. So stop taking your constitutional cases to the media, Take it where it matters and that is the High Court. Better still get a good lawyer who can properly prepare your cases before this one is thrown out before it is heard. Shame on you Ron.
