Ward One residents of Roseau are expected to cast ballots to choose who they wish to be their next mayor as polls for the Roseau City Council’s general elections open in that area today.
Contesting candidates for today are: fisherman Albert Darymple, manager Corinthia Blanc Esprit, body worker Lenny B. Jno. Baptiste, bartender Karshama Ijahman Richards and accounts clerk Kendra Stevens.
Voting stations open from 7 a.m. They include the Kings Hill Baptiste Church, Harlem Community Centre, Fatima Church Hall, House of Eusebila Lewis (Elmshall), and St. Gerard’s Hall.
Though not contesting in Ward One, incumbent Mayor of Roseau Cecil Joseph seeks re-election as council chairman and mayor for his fourth consecutive term.
Votes are to be counted at the respective polling stations at the close of polls at 5 p.m.
Returning Officer Arundell Thomas will tabulate results at the Electoral Office after which the successful candidate will be announced.
@Shana: Guess what: I heard Dalrymple and Corinthia win.Ha! Congrats pppl!
All yuh know Cecil getting back his post cuz I not sure any of these ppl fit for the job…they all appear very young and lack experience and necessary qualifications, not that Cecil has any…but I suspect they beg them ppl to go up so it wudn’t look too bad with Cecil alone running…I guess Cecil is our Marion Barry…but don’t worry all good time must come to an end…
Who winning? Soon know… Its close to 5 pm…….I putting the bet on Dalrymple and Corinthia. Kendra will come third place….
@Correct Me If I Am Wrong: Yes you are correct.
Good Luck to candidates. May the best pair win!
@Correct Me If I Am Wrong: Correct!
As far as I know the Election is for Ward one only where there are five candidates, the other Wards have been decided already where the incumbents were unopposed so they are therefore “returned unopposed”. Also the Election is for the Election of the Council Mambers who will in turn elect their Chairman or Mayor.
