UWP launches newspaper

The United Workers Party (UWP) says as part of its movement for change it has launched a newspaper called “Voices of the People.”

The newspaper was first presented last weekend during the presentation of the 21 candidate for general election.

A total of 1,500 copies of the newspaper has already been printed, according to Pat Aaron, who is involved in the publication.

He said the UWP’s “movement for change” is not all about the party.

“It is a movement of people who are suffering, who are feeling it, and the newspaper is just one of many other strategies that are being employed here to get Dominica out of the morass it is in,” he said.

Aaron said more newspapers are on the way.

“There will be another one coming out every week and beyond the elections, that is left for us to decide,” he said. “In the first print we did 1,500 copies and I think we kind of run out of them now, so I think we under-estimated the support of the people, so next week we will be doing a few thousands.”

“People get to know what is going on through reading and once people eyes are opened, and once people eyes are opened, then they can make the right decisions,” he stated.

Aaron is confident that Dominicans will make the right decision and elect the UWP in the December 8th general election.

Well, well, well Labourites you all think Lennox and the UWP do not have what it takes to govern Dominica because of their failure to produce a manifesto! and that is not satisfactory based on you all timing – ok thats fear enough – so lets invite Lennox to a debate with and I am suggesting with any one of the DLP candidates but preferably Skerrit on the TOPIC – Where is your manifesto – you all will have the advantage since you can make reference to yours and he may not be able to make reference to his! is that a deal! one cannot asked for a better deal; I am suggesting ARAWAK House of Culture or better yet the National Stadium so that all your supporters will get space. Is THAT A DEAL OR WHAT? Lets debate Lennox on the issues so that we can mash him up once and for; so that all of Dominica and the World tat large can really see how incompetent he Lennox is! You see LABOURITES YOU ALL CANNOT ASK FOR A BETTER DEAL Than that; the man is a novice; he is a high school dropout; he bankrupt of ideas; he haven’t got managerial and leadership skills ; he is not known around the world circles plus he cannot produce his manifesto in time what more points you want on him – your leader should win with his hands down; so lets get Lennox to debate Skerrit man! – come on Labourites you can do it – it will cement Skerrit into the leadership position in Dominica for life ………………. get your Leader into the ring and lets humiliate Lennox once and for all ; lets show the world what a fruad he is……….. I am suggesting Sunday November 23rd before he runs to put out a Manifesto out quick! quick! quick; But I suspect I should not hold my breath on that one.

They have already outlined there manifesto.

They have made there intention clear about there plans for dominica.

Manifesto comes from the world manifest, to tell, to outline, to make available.

They have outlined there plans on so many occasions. If you need a print out to confirm what they have already manifested then all you guys need to do is ask.

They are going even further to outline or make available there plans by means of creating a news paper.

So stop pretending that you do not know what there plans are.

I thought UWP was very confident of a landslide victory at the polls with Lennox the PM in waiting and Fontaine, Minister of Finance in waiting. They seem to be talking two different languages; with such confidence, how could they under-estimate the support of the people?

CAUTION TO THE NATION: BEFORE YOU PUT YOUR CROSS NEXT TO THE WRONG PARTY. LISTEN.ANALYZE. THINK AND UNDERSTAND. Dominicans are their own worse enemy! Team Dominica has been on the road ENGAGING you for over a year now. Not just throwing up a paper that most won’t read, but discussing their plans, opening up for questions, fighting for a debate so that you can compare both parties positions. They have a website with their ideas, have had a jobs forum, rallies, and now a newspaper….and folks say they are unprepared b/c of a manifesto?

Dominicans have made themselves appear quite foolish this election season. Its fine to support whichever party you want, but to reduce a campaign to “blahhh I got my manifesto out before you” is beyond childish. I have barely heard one word about the CONTENTS of the DLP manifesto vis a vis the plans Team Dominica has offered. And we all know these plans b/c for months now ppl were talking about “how can UWP create 5K jobs in 3 years”, etc.

There is nothing new coming from the UWP manifesto. It will detail what most have already been hearing and reacting to. Either you believe its time for change and support that, or uphold corruption, dependency and exploitation of our people. Thats your choice this election year.

Time to grow up and start acting like serious thinkers, Dominicans!

DLP SUPPORTERS ASKING FOR UWP MANIFESTO!
Many DLP supporters are asking for the UWP Manifesto as if they are actually going to read it! The fact is these folks have already made up their minds to vote for mismanagement and corruption and are only using the delayed launch of the UWP Manifesto as a tool to agitate and create contention.
If DLP supporters were actually commenting on the “carbon-copy” Manifesto of the DLP, with pictures of places in OTHER Countries it would make a little more sense. The supporters of the UWP would like to hear from Labor supporters about THEIR Manifesto. A Manifesto which most of them have NOT read since they’ve been too busy chasing behind the DLP “Sewo Train” and screaming Labor Ka Twavay while most of them are poor, jobless and hungry. So Sad!!!

To all the individuals who are writing crap on DNO please note that Lenox Linton does not need any ideas from skerit manifesto. Why are Dominicans so foolish? Do you listen to the crap the PM and his team speak on his platform?

Lenox is an intelligent man and an independent thinker with ideas and policies that will shape the future of Dominica to brighter days, not begger days like our pm.

To the Labourites who are incapable of reading and understanding UWP plans, my advise to you is to listen, pay attention and ponder on the plans that UWP team presents on their platform. They are clearly defined and easy to understand so please take heed and make a wise decision.

The PM is only interested in making a better life for himself. How does it feel to have to walk up the Financial Center stairs to beg a man you put in power to create the enabling environment for you to prosper. My advise to Dominicans GET OFF YOUR LAZY ASSES AND WORK TO PROVIDE FOR YOURSELF AND FAMILY so you can have a better life. EXPERIENCE WHAT IT IS TO WORK HARD AND TO BE INDEPENDENT so no one can have a hold on you.

Why all these brouhaha about the manifesto? Wait until t week of the 24th and if it is not presented then bray as loud as all your can. I hope when the other party brings out their manifesto, te people who are asking for it reads it and make an evaluative decision basedmon the plans of the two parties. It would be great to fine out the impact of a manifesto on the voting choice of ampopulation who don’t like to read.

Not because one party brings out the ir manifesto during the first week of campaign that they other has too. Each party is responsible to make it own strategic plans and the action or inaction of any one party to reveal a manifesto early cannot spell out its unreadiness as some on here are trying to insinuate.

I personally think it is best to bring out one’s manifesto a few days before the election as its content would be fresher in the minds of those that matger the most, the undecided voters, who are more prone to vote based on the plans as opposed to the sensualism of the parties, for if they were enticed by the sensualism of the parties in uestion, they would have already align themselves to a side.

Moreover, recently, many peopl relie less on and have become ware of the content of manifestoes to make their voting decisions as histroy has shown they are just words of affected plans with no substance that are hardly every followed by political parties after the election.

I personally do not understand why so much money is wasted on their production.

I think it is ,ore strategic to

labour party is a very strategic party. They don’t make moves without there being a backup. When Skerrit called elections it was because all his containers were cleared and he could proceed to began his campaign. UWP kept on saying “call the elections” now that it’s been called the party seems a little disheveled. As the opposition party they should’ve have been steps ahead of the DLP when it came to creating innovative ways of campaigning and getting their message across…. Those newspapers should’ve been in production at the start of the year… Have Dominicans opening their minds and looking forward to a new publication every week fit the last couple of months. When I think of politics around the world you have to be ready at all times. Yes Skerrit may lose some seats uwp will give him a run. Uwp can win the elections they may not… But the point is it doesn’t matter what side you’re on its always good to be ready.

Skerrit had 15 years to prepare fro a debate. Why don’t you encourage him to debate. A manifesto has no real value those days. It only has pretty pictures and words which some are yet to read.

A debate is much more important than a manifesto and will Skerrit come forward? I doubt it yet no one will hold him responsible and you all want to talk about manifesto. Dominicans need to broaden their minds and move away from all those small talks and look beyond what they see or hear. If they did our island would be better off and people in position would respect us.

Where have you all been – the UWP is the only party to have articulated their plans for Dominica over the last twelve months using different forums- the guys have been soliciting feedback from various forums and engagements through out the island including the economic forum at the Fort Young Hotel- on their weekly Thursday night programmes they have articulated and provide details on the plans and programmes for Dominica when they form the government – and they have consistently called for national debates to discuss the their plans verus the DLP plans and also the issues on a one and one. So it is not fair to say that they have not outline their plans and programmes – the manifesto will just be like an executive summary of all they have been pushing for the last 12 months. On the otherhand the DLP has not done the same since they have been concentrating on one man over the last 12 months in the name of Lennox Linton. Remember they held a four hour public meeting in Laboon Roseau just to talk about Linton. They lunch their manifesto in Trafalga last week and not at one DLP meeting to follow have any of their speakers or candidates make reference to their manifesto – citing for example on page so and so we intend to do this and that not one of them – again what has preoccupied them is one man – Lennox Linton so to me the manifesto is of little or no relevance because it is not being reference at the public meetings at least the one put out by the DLP. In fact I hear more reference made to it by the UWP than the DLP so again the manifesto hype is just what it is. Th e better thing for me as a voter is to have the two prospecting person vying for leadership engage themselve in a public debate that is what I would want at this time – not bill boards, not talk shows, bot Carimi and Destra , not WCK , not all that irrelavant dottishness. Lets get serious and have at least two debates before the 8th of December – one on the economic solutions for Dominica and the second on the environment and social issues to include crime.

What about thinking that this is their strategy? It is a movement for change so they are showingn Dominicans how things can be done differently. They decided to do a newspaper as part of their strategy, and this would have had to be in the planning prior to the announcement of the election date or they are so good that they were able to create this and put it in production in a short span of time. To me, this demonstrates the brilliance of the team. They have stated when their manifesto will be released. Again that is callled strategy. It looks like this is beyond your comprehension.

It is about time Skeritt stop allowing Mr. Linton make a fool of him. He called him fraud, a high school drop out, and a curse. He just cannot get it through his thick skull , Mr. Linton is a better thinker then he is. Most of the plans and programs of the UWP come from the mind of Mr. Linton. A better organizer, if the man can be called by other political parties in the Caribbean to organize their political programs, doesn’t occur to Skeritt, he will do a better job with his own. A better leader them him, before the 1st September, 2013, not many Dominicans gave the UWP a chance of winning the general elections. Today, most Dominicans are crying out for Mr. Linton as their Prime Minister. Skeritt must stop under estimating Mr. Linton. I was one of those who said, when Mr. Linton made the remarks that he was a novice, it was to fool Skeritt. He fell for it , head, shoulders, feet, everything.
