CCJ judge tries to sell VIP Carnival tickets in Trinidad

CCJ logoA staff member of the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) was disciplined for refusing to sell complimentary VIP tickets on the instructions of a judge who was given them by the National Carnival Commission (NCC) to enable him and his wife to view shows at the Queen’s Park Savannah.

This is one of the incidents cited in a document prepared by former Acting Registrar of the CCJ Dr Leighton Jackson, reflecting the depth to which the institution has sunk, in which he concludes, the regional institution headquartered in Port-of-Spain is out of control and careful structures put in place are being systematically dismantled. Newsday has obtained a copy of the document.

Have you guys notice that most of the high and mighty always seem to be felled by the most trivial activity. Mostly it is that sense of entitlement and their belief that the rules that they set for others don’t apply to them.

Why would a judge of the higher courts in region allow himself to get mired in such controversy. Not only that, after the driver did not follow his classless instruction, he doubles down and sidelines the driver.

The worse part is that the driver had a better sense of propriety than the judge. And that judge is supposed to know better. And to think he would be the one to preside over a case that affects the lives of ordinary people.

That just goes to show the calibre of the people who are supposed to be our leaders in the Caribbean. Pure immaturity and petty mentality.

It’s time our leaders rise above that. It’s a real shame these are the types of people who we have representing us.

Lord in the name of Jesus, I ask for Wisdom for our leaders, that they will surrender to Your will and not theirs. Although some may claim to have book knowledge, Wisdom is what is required.

these are men will judge case between citiziens v Government. I beg to differ but our lives are in gullible Judges. I have some concern that CCJ have inclination or prejudice for or against one person or group, or Government. this should be a grave concern for all us.

The worst is yet to come; I personally have no confidence in that kangaroo court, this is only the beginning of petty misconduct, if one cannot be trusted in small things, how can they be trusted with case filings, and judges rendering appropriate legal matters based on law?

@ Francisco you talking like every where you go it don’t have dirty people in places that do wrong you live in LA, are you telling me you never heard a judge disbarred for wrongful doings? from here on out is what becomes of the case as to when charges filed against him and if found guilty then you can judge the CCJ on that premise and who knows if what they are saying is true we Dominicans like microwave we cant wait for things to take its course we always know and want it now no matter what the real truth is. Me I leave my comments for when its all said and done.

So we expect that judge to not take bribes and give Skerrit what he wants? LOL. Who are we fooling with this CCJ? Corruption from the simpliest to the most serious matters. That is what we have signed up for. Congrats.

Did you guys read the follow-up articles? 1. The man’s wife was trying to sell a ticket she had purchased because they were give complimentary tickets. 2. The Judge requested that he hires his personal driver two years after court provided driver refused to assist in selling the ticket.

In any event, if the ticket were give as complimentary; in the first place they should not be accepted, because that could sometime serve as conflict of interest at some later period. The ticket should be returned to the entity, or person who provided the gift.

Trying to sell, or ordering the sale of the tickets compounded the issue. What do you anticipate would happen to the money received from the sale of the tickets?

Corruption, in any shape or form, spells corruption!

At that level you do not try to sell tickets you already bought. You donate the tickets to a member of staff or other suitable person.

Move the CCJ out of T&T. Trickidad is no place for such a fine institution. We will take them in DA.

that is a stupid comment to make. the issue is not where its located. the issue are the players. if you relocate here with the same players, you will have the same results. what’s even more stupid is that six people gave you a thumbs up for an idiotic statement.

Well it have one not so little black boy who is a senior council and a non-black boy in DA who have their eyes set on that outside latrine. That’s why they push a certain little black boy leading Gov’t to sign up with the CCJ and dis the outside latrine.
