This is a product of bilateral negotiations. It indicates the priority of the leadership of Guyana i.e., the educationally and social development of Guyanese. Note the first sentence of the story, “The governments of China and Guyana have signed an $8 million agreement..” You see, it was part of an agreement. Our MOU does not contain these goodies. Our government may have been more interested in the construction of capital infrastructural projects with Chinese expertise, funding, material and labour. Who knows what our MOU contains

    Them laptops bugged

The Dom gov need to step up to Lime and work a deal for more affordable Internet services in Dominica.. How da hell Dominica being one of the very very few countries in the world to go 100% fiberoptic stay last and slow in Internet? Give me a break the price we pay for basic Internet is no where near the price for even basic dsl.. That thing Lime calling broadband is watered down.. No where close to what broadband is in other parts of the world.. We need better

Good call/observation! Won’t be too surprised if they are bugged…soon China will have Guyana by the groin. Perfect example: China built a U.S. Embassy for the U.S. in China, which had to be demulished because the whole building was bugged etc. What’s New? Island peeps wake up!

Come on People! 30,000 laptops will be coming our way soon. That’s all. relax people. All you too like to complain about everything. Be happy for others. Rejoice when you see others been blessed. Or is that too much to ask our jealous culture of a people.

I may need to write something about Chinese isolotion before 1942;the cultural revolution before the A merican “invision”led by president Nixon ;and the westernisation of present china . But not now .
Surfice is to say that China does not need us we need china .China can pack up and disapear from Dominica and will not be harmed.
We need to show more apreciation .
Black people and the chinese have suffered the same recial predudice and still are.
THE CHINESE WANT THE SAME INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION AND PRESTIGE AND RESPECT THAT ALL WESTERN NATIONS HAVE .They want to have more influence than the U S A .Soon they will be no one in economic power and prestage.AND they can do it without us.We should have the same friendly attitude towards China as we have towards the Americas and Europe.

We need the Chinese government to give us an international airport, to rescue Dominica failing economy…

how does an international airport rescue an economy, when plp are hardly travelling with gas prices sky high.

an intenational airport can attract international business people, and an international can provide a safer landing environment for this said people, can also provide same day arrivals and departures for this same said kinds of people if you getting my drift, but the reallity is can the chinese provide dominica with an inernational airport, what will the conditions be,the EU and america would want to know what are their intentions, building a stadium for sporting activities is one thing, but building an airport, that’s quite a different ball game,an airport of international magnitude draws and says a lot,yes an economic advantage in terms of drawing investors,at the same also a military landing facility,so a lot of questions and answers will follow, but i think it is beneficial providing hoteliers also step up,but there is a but to everything we do in life, yep the two sided coin,at what cost for dominicas present generation and the ones to come, yea there is who going to foot the bill, this is where dominicans got to step up,we go need a larger work force in the private sector,a lot of small businesses to mentain a base backup for such a large enterprize like an international airport.
