Earthquake rattles Virgin Islands

An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale rattled the Virgin Islands on Thursday afternoon.

The quake was felt around 1:42 pm, according to reports.

Reports indicate it was felt throughout the Virgin Islands.

Puerto Rico Seismic Network reports that the epicenter was located near 18.39N and 62.95 West or 6 miles ESE of the Valley, Anguilla at a depth of 54.9 miles.

So far there have been no reports of damage.

    If there was a 5.1 earthquake on a tiny island, why didn’t anyone feel it. Also, St Thomas is a US territory; this would have been all over their airways.

    not a big deal. just a rumble and slight shake that probaly lasted 5 secs. nothing moved in the room.

    Earthquake is a respector of no man. it can happen any where at any time… just be prepared for the aftermath and be prepared to volunteer to assist once you are able to do so… :wink:

    i live in the vi reading this report at 4.14pm something is wrong about that report,and it the first place i am hearing about it,and i didn,t feel any thing.

      It was about 1:42 i was on the phone with my friend she was home in bed and felt it but i did not because i was driving.

        not because u didnt feel it doesnt mean it did not happen. it was about 1.20 pm or so. so if it was worst your would not be prepared learn to listen to the news and stop confusin the people who tryin to calm there family down.that was all over the news people were callin in to find out information and people like all u speadin nonesense for those who have family here and are worried about them.
