Jamaica on Wednesday shipped off close to JA$50 million worth of bridge infrastructure and materials to tropical storm-ravaged Dominica, fulfilling a pledge that was made nearly two months ago.
The donation, initiated by the Ministry of Transport, Works and Housing, represents a joint public/private sector partnership.
It included two Bailey bridges from the National Works Agency (NWA), six tons of steel from Tank-Weld, and 18 tons of cement from a combination of interests. Oslo Bulk will ship the items to Dominica.
Minister of State in the transport ministry, Richard Azan, who watched the shipment from Tank-Weld’s Port Rio Bueno in Trelawny, said the donation is the largest ever contribution of relief items by Jamaica to another country.
It’ s all these Millions, Grants, Gifts, Aids, Donations that’s going to do him in.
This is the kind of donations we need.
Thank you Jamaica. ..what whatever amount it is very penny counts .it will be greatly appreciated. ..thanks once again and God bless.
Very exemplary JA – God bless
Laborites, look all you getting more goodies. Run to papa skyrit….
Wow!! This is an excellent gesture of the Jamaican government. This is typical of the PNP government. They cherish the friendship among Caricom states. Thanks to the government and people of Jamaica. We are truely appreciative of this demonstration of care for us Dominicans.
Thank you Jamaica for your donation, we truly appreciate it. I think DNO should have converted it for the average reader who might think it is $50,000000.00ec. it works out to be a little over 1million EC dollars, which is still a lot but the 50 million they mentioned is deceiving.
Thanks again J/A
Yea the headline made me think it was EC. Thanks for clarifying. Still grateful indeed. Now we up to $17.something million EC
The headline is misleading. It is 50 million Jamaican dollars, which is approx. E.C.1.13 million or U.S. $418,000. It is still very welcome tough. Many thanks Jamaica.
thanks JA. give them supplies not cash because we all know the habit of them fellas
YEA MAN! Thanks JA. The gifts keep coming. Thank You.
