Pope to visit Cuba before Easter

Pope Benedict

Pope Benedict XVI confirmed on Monday that he is planning to visit Cuba and Mexico before Easter next year.

The pontiff made the announcement as he celebrated mass in St Peter’s Basilica in honour of the Virgin of Guadalupe, one of the most revered figures of Roman Catholicism in Mexico. This year marks the 480th anniversary of the virgin’s appearance on Tepeyac Hill, on the outskirts of what is now Mexico City.

Couln’t help but thinking the head a one-party state (the Vatican) visiting another (Cuba). The one is infallible. Is the other one too? When you think about it, there are similarities: unquestionable obedience, prisoners of conscience & excommunication, edicts, the absence of democratic rule, personality culture to name just a few. The church does a lot of good works but that does not mean that we must never question its motives ofr its hierarchy.

Humanist, PRAISE THE LORD that you are not evil.

The god of the bible commits numerous acts of evil that he claims are “good,” like genocide (mass murder), the sanction of rape, the creation of laws for stoning disobedient children (and even oxes) to death, the execution of non-virgin brides, forcing Abraham to almost kill his son, Isaac, out of faith, creating a “hell” to send his own creations to eternally, even though he is supposed to be all-loving….

I am not evil, and I praise good luck and a good upbringing for it. I am infinitely more moral than this pope or that god of the bible–and so are you, I would hazard to guess.

        HUMANIST!
I GUESS YOUR PARENTS AND NEIGHBOURS WHO BROUGHT YOU UP GOOD WERE ATHEIST TOO!
…AND WHAT IS THIS MORALITY THAT YOU SPEAK OF?
        WHERE DID IT COME FROM?
        STRANGE WORD!

MUST BE SOMETHING INVENTED BY FELLOW ATHEIST

Do you think typing in all caps and eschewing punctuation makes you sound smarter? It doesn’t in my eyes, but perhaps I’ve missed an academic trend. Do enlighten me.

Also enlighten me on the morality in all the evil passages in the bible about god-sanctioned murders of tens of thousands, rapes, child execution, wife execution, etc.

Whenever you plant flowers and herbs grow in between and seem to take over, what do you do?

God does the same with his creation.

When we stop interpreting God’s word according to our own understanding and for our own worldly aggrandizement, there is absolutely nothing God sanctioned about our actions.

The laws of God are abused by man, in the very same way that man made law is abused by those in authority and people in general. So don’t hate the law, hate the ones who break, abuse, misinterpret and operate the law for their own earthly wiles.

What an evil, savage creature. He had the audacity, recently, to claim that abusing little children was “not a problem” and “normal” as recently as the 1970s, as if he can justify sexual abuse simply because society didn’t see it–in his eyes–as such a “bad” thing.

Make no mistake: this man looks like a super villain in a comic, and the scary thing is that he’s already stepped out of the comic.

      YEAH!
NEXT TIME YOU ACCESS YOUR ACCOUNT IN THE CREDIT UNION,
SEND UR CHILD TO PRE SCHOOL,
TRY TO GET UR NEIGHBOUR TO ACCESS ANY ONE OF THE CATHOLIC SCHOOLS IN THE COUNTRY,
OR DROP OFF UR GRAND MOTHER AT THE INFIRMERY…

THINK OF HOW EVIL HE IS

This is the savage who refuses to allow condoms into Africa, thereby allowing for and practically causing untold deaths and misery. He IS evil. Let no one tell you otherwise. A few good deeds do not balance out such disastrous ones.

      • December 14, 2011

        Mr humanist.
this is the savage who refuses to allow condoms in Africa because this savage, in his God given wisdom, realises that the indescriminate giving out of condoms only gives license to the promiscuous and animalistic behaviour that leads to the disease in the first place.

“you are an animal. Here’s a few condoms to go and satisfy your flesh on whomever you wish.”
Mr. humanist, please tell me the name of you son or daughter so that i came hand them a bag of condoms.
MR. HUMANIST, I HOPE YOU HAVE BOTH A SON AND A DAUGHTER THAT I MAY GIVE THEM BOTH CONDOMS THAT THEY WILL HAVE INCESTUOUS SEX WITH EACH OTHER WITH THE ASSURANCE OF PROTECTION FROM THE CONDOM.
AT LEAST IT WILL SAVE THEM FROM AIDS! NEVER MIND THAT THEY HAVE BEEN REDUCED TO ANIMALS.

…AND FORGIVE ME IF YOU’RE INSULTED MR HUMANIST BECAUSE I KNOW YOU ARE NOT AN ANIMAL.

@ Bruce – Of course I am an animal. So are you. We’re primates. And condoms are not a bad thing. No sensible person will disagree. Sex is meant to be enjoyed. If it wasn’t, we wouldn’t have pleasure doing it. It doesn’t mean we have to be promiscuous, no, and I agree with you there. But we do not have to be puritans. Come on, now. This isn’t the seventeenth century.

As for the names of my family members? Go **** off, please. I don’t give out such information to people who sound as crazy as you.

Ah, I see the child-abusing priests are giving my comment thumbs down. Then again, it could be any Dominican afraid of seeing his or her precious religion spoken poorly of. Such people would be quicker to support a child-abusing member of the clergy than a morally blameless atheist who gives donations to charity, donates books to schools and libraries, and generally helps the nation progress.

      • December 14, 2011

“a morally blameless atheist who gives donations to charity, donates books to schools and…”
SO YOU ARE AN ATHEIST WHO MEASURE YOUR WORTH BY THE MORAL TENNETS OF THOSE SAVAGES WHO BELIEVE IN THE GOD WHO DOES NOT EXIST EH?

      • Humanist
        December 14, 2011

Those are not Christian principles exclusively. Charity existed before Christianity did. And even if it WAS a Christian tenet, that only means there’s a bit of good ethics in the system; it says nothing about whether or not the supernatural stuff is true. Don’t confuse the two. You can get good bits and pieces from something without accepting all of it.
