Shane Degallerie’s case on hold, again

Shane Degallerie being led out of court

Two years after he was arrested and charged for murder, Shane Degallerie will have to wait a while longer for the commencement of his trial.

He was charged with the murder of 18-year-old Justin Joseph who died from a single stab wound allegedly afflicted by Degallerie in April 2010.

When the matter came up for hearing on Wednesday, Justice Bernie Stephenson informed lawyers that she had decided to use this week for “case management with lawyers” of “all matters down to be heard in October.”

As a result, she adjourned court to Monday October 1, 2012 and Degallerie’s matter will be the first to be heard.

The High Court had granted the accused bail in the sum of $30,000.

Degallerie is represented by Zena Moore Dyer and Gina Dyer Munro of the law firm of Dyer & Dyer.

The matter surfaced in the September 2011 and January 2012 criminal assizes but was never able to get off the ground.

There can never be peace as long as there is no justice..No amount of prison if worth a man life and right now the system rule is that it’s better to kill a brother than plant weed to feed your family..For this reason Justice where it comes to murder will be brought forth by death in the form of revenge..
Mr politician and so call law makers your duty is to serve and protect the people, that why you were voted into office..Please perform your assigned duties before gun star slinging in the streets like it’s fireworks on new years eve..

All the people crying for justice for Justin, should be part of the protest against disrespect for our constitution. You cannot seat up and not come out to protest against disregard for law and order in Dominica, then when this same disregard affects your friend, you want to cry. It don’t work that way.

This “no law, including the constitution” thing is real and it lives in Dominica and has grown. Everyone is piggy banking on the Leader’s statement. Lawyers, criminals, everybody.

But hey…you guys wont see the bigger picture and tell me I putting politics in everything. 8)

This ‘no law no constitution’ thing used to be catching in its time but I think it has seen its heyday….it is now so passé.

Come on guys get something new….this makes you sound like drowning men catching at straws.

      • September 27, 2012

I hope the criminals are reading you.

It happens in the USA all the time so don’t put DA down like thats the only country injustice happens. Just an example of injustice in the USA. Tell me whats wrong with that picture ok. A woman who had five children forgot one in a car, the child died and was jailed and her kids taken from her, another woman had one child and forgot that child in a car,the child died and she walked free.

That closing line wasnt necessary DNO. You already gave his age in the 2nd paragraph..

    • ?????????????
      September 26, 2012

?????????????????? don’t understand your comment??? Likeit. The closing line does not speak about the victim’s age. It clearly states that the matter (court matter) came up in the September, 2011 and January, 2012 Assizes. I stand corrected also.

Ma Dyer, you better have all your doucments this time, cuz you know that case is a no win for you, so you always come up with an excuse. All the facts are there, clear as day. “Was never able to get of the ground”?

    • Dorival John
      September 26, 2012

Definition of the term “get off the ground:” get started or set in motion, used figuratively; “the project took a long time to get off the ground”.

Read and learn my people…the world is reading some of our comments.
