Sheldon Elizee denied bail

The prosecution continues to oppose bail for 23 year old Sheldon Elizee who is charged with attempted murder, possession of firearm to endanger life and possession of ammunition.

Elizee was arrested on December 27, 2012 for the incident and appeared in court on December 31, 2012 where a bail application was made on his behalf by his lawyer Gina Dyer-Munro but it was turned down.

He again appeared in court on January 7, 2013, this time, before magistrate Ossie Lewis. His lawyer Dyer-Munro in making another request for bail told the court that her client was ‘a first time offender, the offence was bail-able and that there was no evidence linking him to the crime.”

She questioned the motive for objecting to bail and stated that the prosecution was yet to give “disclosure” as ordered by the court.

However, the prosecution team of Inspector Claude Weekes and Sergeant Constance Cuffy explained to the court that they had nothing yet on file and were awaiting information from the investigating officer who was busy in court in Grand Bay. “The police are carrying out investigations…the man was in the ICU but is now in the outpatient department recovering, the firearm is also yet to be recovered,” they told the court.

The prosecution also contended that “the public’s interest was of concern and also there was a serious gang feud going on and granting bail at this time would further escalate the matter.”

Magistrate Ossie Lewis in reviewing the matter labeled it “serious.” ‘It’s a violent matter and still in its infancy stage bail is not being denied outrightly but will be further reviewed. We have a culture of violence now in Dominica and we have to be mindful of that and take the necessary steps,” Lewis said.

He denied bail and ordered disclosure for January 11, 2013.

In the latter days wicked men shall wax worse and worse those criminals should not get no bail those lawyers are more wicked than those criminals they are demon posesed, satanic, ungodly devils, especially those that go all out to defend those criminals no wonder Dominica cant get them to serve as magistrates because the only thing in a lawyer heart is MONEY so they rather stand with those criminals than serve the country to put those dangerous criminals away for ever those beasts two foot monsters should not be allowed to leave in society among people they should be placed in under ground jails and should be hanged for rape, drugs. murder, bulling, lesbianesm and all other horondus crimes Jesus said Woe be on to you LAWYERS for you profain the law they reap off the poor the lawyers must read Luke 11:45-52 apart from those few borne again lawyers and a few others, you cant trust none of the others. All you on the road to HELL.

The man appears to be a menace to society. Why is court time being wasted to seek any time of bail for him?
