West Indies have beaten England in a nail-biting game of the 2016 World T20 in Kolkata, India.

The team becomes the first to win the World T20 twice.

West Indies won by four wickets.

Four sixes from Carlos Brathwaite in the final over saw the Caribbean side win the tournament for the second time. They won by four wickets with two balls to spare on Ben Stokes’ final over.

Joe Root’s fine performance with the bat helped England post a total of 155 runs, losing nine wickets in the process. He also contributed with the ball as he dismissed both West Indies openers Johnson Charles and Chris Gayle in the second over of the chase.

Marlon Samuel provided the anchor role for West Indies scoring 85 not out, the highest score so far in a T20 final. However it was Brathwaite’s four sixes in the last over that got the required 19 runs to take the West Indies over finish line.  He hit the sixes from four consecutive balls off the bowling of Ken Stokes to finis the match with an unbeaten 34.

West Indies won their first T20 World Cup in 2012 and became the first team to win it for the second time after their latest win over England at Eden Gardens.

Aye, could somebody please point out to me what is this gross disrespect & unfairness that the WICB has been meting out to its players?

Centrally-contracted West Indies cricketers are among the highest paid professionals in the Caribbean with additional financial perks from the WICB and other sources.

We ain’t hearing nothing about the continuous gross disrespect & unfairness some of these West Indies cricketers have been meting out to the institution known as West Indies cricket but it seems the WICB is the greatest evil in the world today.

What is this gross disrespect & unfairness the WICB has been showing to the West Indies cricketers? I want to know.

Maybe you would like to tell us about the disrespect the players have been showing to West Indies cricket….seeing as you seem to know all about it and we don’t!?!? And don’t leave out the parts that the WICB might have played toward the engendering of such behaviour!

Congratulations to the West Indies Team (Both men and Women).

Shame on the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) (including Vice-President Nanthan) for their woeful mismanagement of West Indies Cricket!!

I am happy that Sammy spoke his mind and exposed the managerial inadequacies of the WICB.

@Marcus Hill – Aye Marcus, what are managerial inadequacies of the WICB that Sammy truly exposed? Mark you, this is pretty much the same WICB – minus 1 or 2 people now – that stuck by Sammy’s side for quite a while & supported him when almost everybody else was saying Sammy is no good and how he should not be on any West Indies team.

I’m aware that almost every organisation out there has some sort of flaw(s) – the WICB has areas it needs to improve – but, is the WICB really all that bad and evil?

The WICB’s “woeful mismanagement” of West Indies cricket you claim – You mean the “woeful mismanagement” that has somehow resulted in the U-19’s, the women and the men all winning their respective world tournaments in the same year?

Well, the WICB needs to teach more organisations including some of these Caribbean governments how to “woeful mismanage” their own operations so as to achieve positive results as has been achieved under the WICB’s “woeful mismanagement”.

First of all congratulations to our team. To all three of them.
But maybe our victory is bitter-sweet.
We all know that Gayle and a couple of dem other man don’t want to be there running up and down for three or four days playing test match. Feels like we all set to dominate one version of the game while not paying enough attention to the other two.
And, in my opinion, I think Sammy did the right thing when he thanked CARICOM for trying to help and for the e-mails of encouragement while at the same time letting the whole world know that their own board didn’t see it fit to at least say “hello and good luck”.
But the most important thing is that we won today (dem man raise my pressure so high today!)
But while we celebrating let us not forget the other two formats.
And thank you so much to our teams. Today they made us feel like we used to in the good old days.
    Respect!!

Hear, hear and I couldn’t have said it any more eloquently myself!

So very proud of all three team’s accomplishment from the region, let’s hope the board/coaches/players can sort out all their internal destructive goings on, and a resolution is reached not before long, as the West Indies have so much talent to showcase. Those top countries really like the West Indies to be in the mix of things.

Also it’s time to get the National team players of not just WT20, but also WT50, One Dayers, Test Matches, etc..etc…..

Was so pleased to hear the Women’s WT20 2017 is scheduled to take place in the West Indies. I’d better book my flight now, as I don’t want to miss out on all the fun!

Does anyone know whether there’s a similar girls [Under 19 WT20] as well? It’ll be great to see our girls there as well if there’s such a competition.

All the very best and thanks so much for making us all so very proud!
      Best wishes

Knowing how PM Skerrit is a lover of West Indies Cricket and a close friend of VP of WICB Emmanuel Nanthan, I am almost certain they are somewhere celebrating this win. But as we all celebrate, I have a few questions for Hon. Skerrit:

    1. What agreement did you sign with NG Lap Seng on August 26?
    2. Sir, here is what you told us you signed but did you tell us the truth? Here: Mr Skerrit, explained that the document was a communique arising out of the UN Conference to which he was invited to speak on climate change, sustainable development and south-south-http://www.dominicavibes.dm/news-183001/
    3. Sir, here is what we are told you signed: https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yUgetEfB8rA/VvsPiptd3NI/AAAAAAAAA3M/LVfmFZY_xUYHL6dOiBnQAvyJbrWHzIbYg/s1600/LoC082615.jpeg
Obviously someone is not speaking the truth and we know is not you because you always speak the truth. Just explain this letter to us and the signatures we see because we want to know

    • pure possie
      April 4, 2016

Since Skerrit told such a blatant lie here about a document that he signed that he knew was in the hand of the UN and would shortly be made available to the public, how can we trust this man with what he signed with crooks and criminals? Skerrit is not fit to lead and should resign or fired

but I read the link you posted and it reflects what you just said he did, adress climate change and sustainable development,so what other truth you are seeking?some of you guys whatever you all are smoking or drinking, you all will have to share with everybody else so that we can see what you all seeing buddy.

I wish to congratulate both West Indies Team. However, I wish to criticize the timing of Sammy’s disgraceful comments referenced the WICB, his employer. Sammy should be asked to apologize, and if he refuses, he should not be allowed to participate in any sporting activities held by the WICB for the next five years.

I disagree! because without the players the board is nothing. the board need to respect the players and treat them fairly. Sammy spoke from his heart and as you might realize it must have been troubling him all this time so he let it out, no wonder he cant function as he used to, too much stress. you cant punish the man for expressing their struggles as player in the west indies team. The board is a whole bunch of cutlery.

I don’t support the DLP, but I support the Ministers of Government when it comes to the respect they have for their leader. Regardless to what is happening in the country or rather the endless allegations that are being pelted at Skeritt, you don’t hear any Minister of Government criticizing Skeritt in public, or even asking whether the allegations are true or false . You cannot wash your dirty linen in public.

@Da massive – Could you explain to me what is this gross disrespect & unfairness these West Indies players have been receiving from the WICB?

I used to be more critical of the WICB in the past until my eyes were opened to the truth of the disingenuous, greedy ways of SOME of these West Indian cricketers.

Sammy claimed in the post-match presentation that his team didn’t have uniforms which now appears to not have been a totally true statement. A statement from a WICB official seems to suggest that the team could not have gotten their World T20 uniform kit before they got to India because of ICC rules which state that the uniform for the World T20 can only be used in the tournament.

In the practice matches in Dubai in the lead up to the World T20, the Windies team had their normal ODI/T20 uniform playing these warm-up matches against Zimbabwe.

Doc Love you must be a member of the WICB to make such a stupid comment. Stupes….

    • April 4, 2016

Good load of rubish Doc Love. The problem with West indies cricket is that the board members consider themselves kings and emperors and the players are just their subjects. Players and coaches are too often called upon to apologise to this incompetent board whenever they speak the truth. Such a big sporting event and uniforms were not readily available. The WICB has enough board members and staff to feild a team for any format of the game so they don’t have to worry about Sammy.

congratulations boys and girls for making it 3 in 3, in 2016! We are excited! We are proud again! You make us feel like the glory days of mid 70’s to 80’s.

Kudos to Marlon Samuel who was all but written off but once again proved he is a closer, when it really matters. However, my man of the match is Calos Brathwaite with his 3/23, including the wkts of the dangerous Joe Roots and Butler which really stopped England from making 200; on top of that his 10 ball 34 won it for us, and should be MVP. Similarly, Badree should have been player of the series instead of Kholi, who was not able to take India to the final. Badree was brilliant all the way and had it been Narine who had performed like Badree, he would have been MVP of the tournament. Congrats guys! What a win! Oh how Timely! Windies now need to reinstate Sammy as captain in all three formats since we need a leader that can get his players to give their best. Stop that politics that’s killing our game windies

    Praise the Lord!!!

And to the die-hard fans of West Indies cricket who never turned their backs on West Indies cricket when it is not doing well, these triple ICC trophies ie the U-19s, Women & Men’s T20 World Cup are for us.

The good-time ONLY fans of West Indies cricket are out celebrating but we all know these so-called ‘fans’ are a fickle and disingenuous bunch of people who will once again turn their backs on the West Indies as soon as the team loses somewhere else.

We, the TRUE FANS of West Indies cricket, will never turn our backs on West Indies cricket. Yes we will give the team blows when it does poorly, but we will never stop supporting our West Indies team WIN, LOSE or DRAW.

Again, I say take a bow to the TRUE FANS of West Indies cricket. These championship victories are truly for us.

A true friend is not a fair weather friend. In reality, teams try their utmost to win but they cannot always be the winner. Only one can win. It is something that everyone should keep in mind even though if a team loses and the fans are disappointed. It is maturity and sensible to say, better luck next time and congratulate the winner.

I was glued to my chair, nibbling on my finger nails, when I saw that they wanted 19 runs from the last over, I said that we loose that game , I then saw Brathwaith scored 4 sixes from 4 bawls ,causing West Indies to win the match, then I said it is not over, till the last bawl is bowled. I think that Brathwaith deserved the mam of he match, for his 3 wickets and 34 runs from 10 deliveries. I believed he was cheated of being the “Man Of The Match”. I enjoyed the game.
