BUSINESS BYTE: Over 25 young cricketers shared the cricket experience in Dominica

Digi cricketThree days ahead of the 1st Test Match to be held in Dominica  between West Indies and Australia, Digicel gave the young cricketers of St. Mary’s Primary, Convent Preparatory and Isiah Thomas Secondary School the opportunity to participate in the “Digicel Cricket Experience”. The event was held at the Windsor Park Stadium where over 25 kids benefited from first hand training and gained invaluable insight into the game they love, from West Indies Team members.

The kids were excited and eager to meet the WI Players who conducted the training to include Davendra Bishoo, Darren Bravo, Jermaine Blackwood and Veerasammy Permaul.

The youngsters underwent a fun-filled, interactive training session, where they were taken through a number of exercises, including warm-ups, batting, bowling and fielding drills, all while receiving a number of helpful tips, tricks and secrets from West Indies players. The kids often yielded to calls by the West Indies cricketers to be persistent and focused.

At the end of the training West Indies Player Bishoo, commented, “to succeed you must be dedicated and work hard on the sport at an early age. Keep practicing and you’ll become best at it…Just remember enjoy your cricket as much as possible. ”

Permaul told the youngsters that the benefits of their hard work will be realized; “I really work hard on my game especially in training. Now, I’m reaping the benefits…”

“This program offers our youngsters a snapshot of what their life could be a few years down the road if they commit to the game of cricket and work hard like our West Indies players. Digicel is pleased to give the grassroots kids of Dominica the chance to benefit from this session and motivated the kids to continue to work hard at the game.” said Nathalie Walsh, Digicel Dominica Sales & Marketing Manager.
