DAAA National Junior Championships scheduled for Sunday

dno sportsThe Dominica Amateur Athletics Association (DAA) will stage the 2015 National Junior Championships on Sunday 8th March 2015, 10:00 am at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium.

The competition will showcase athletes from the various clubs and schools in three age categories Under 15, Under 18, and Under 20 boys and girls in the following events: Under 18 and under 20 – 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m.1500m, 4x100m and 4x400m, Long Jump, High Jump, Triple Jump, Shot Put, Javelin, Discus- 3000m open girls and under – 18 boys and 5000m open boys, Under 15 boys and girls 100m, 300m, 1200m, long Jump and Shot Put.

The event will serve as another opportunity for athletes to qualify for the 2015 Carifta Games to be held in St. Kitts from the 3rd to 6th April.

Three athletes have already booked their places for the Carifta Games; Josh Toussaint of the I.T.S.S/Aspirers – Shot Put and Discus under 18 boys, Keyon Burton N.E.C.S/Wesmar – Javelin under 18 boys and Raheem Joseph N.E.C.S/Wesmar – Shot Put.

The general public is invited to see National and Carifta Record Holder Shanee Angol as she seek to re-write the record books, together with Kellandie Bully, Derrick St. Jean, Dhanique Green, Damian Rafael, Kihmo Benjamin, Anelia Austrie, Tianna Jno Lewis and the many others who will go out looking for their Carifta qualification.

All are invited to come out and give their support to the athletes in their quest to represent Dominica

The DAAA gives thanks to all those who have contribute to this event taking place and wishes all success in their endeavours, especially Mr. Trevor Shillingford, Sports Division and the management of the Windsor Park.
