Dominica getting ready for Volleyball World League 2017

dno sportsPreparations for the second round of the Volleyball World Cup qualifiers carded for next April kicked off with an impressive start last Saturday.

A meeting was held for 60 of the potential representatives at the FLOW Compound to discuss training schedules, coaches expectations and player requirements.

The men’s team will be coached by long time trainer Jeffrey Edmund who will be assisted by Erickson Leblanc who is fresh off a formal coach’s course in Europe. Leblanc will also assist head coach Albert Loblack for the women.

Designated training days will be on Mondays at 6:00 pm, Wednesdays and Fridays at 5:00 pm for the men, while the women will train on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:00 pm and 3:00 pm on Saturdays.

Although the meeting was poorly attended, the coaches wasted no time in explaining and enforcing their no-nonsense approach that will be utilized throughout the 6 months training process.

Players are expected to attend and be on time for all training sessions which begins on Monday 26th September, 2016.

The level of volleyball in DA is very poor. Persons have lost interest because of the high favoritism when picking the national teams. It seem to be a friendship thing and not on your performance.

Stupes…who cares??!!??…same s different year!!!! The local association can’t even manage a local league in a timely manner, much less for a team to perform reasonably at these tournaments….give it a rest, please!!!!

You’re 100 percent correct. Imagine a local league has 5 teams and each team plays each other only once. Then the playoffs semi finals is still a one game decider. Then you have teams boycotting championship matches. There must be a change in the administration. Volleyball locally is a joke.
