Captain of the Guyana Jaguars, Leon Johnson, says his team is prepared for the upcoming Regional 4-day Cricket Tournament expected to be held at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium from March 20 to March 23.
The Guyana Jaguars will take on the Windward Islands Volcanoes at the tournament.
“We are very prepared and have been doing a lot of work over the last couple of months…,” he told Dominica News Online (DNO) on Thursday. “We only have one day here in Dominica but we have done a lot of work in Guyana and so we are well prepared.”
He added, “We have been doing a lot of work in every country that we have been to and believe the team is confident enough.”
Captain Johnson said the last time the Guyana Jaguars won the regional title was back in 1998.
Meantime, Manager of the team Rayon Griffith also told DNO that his team is well prepared and have been playing good cricket throughout the championship.
“In the last match we didn’t win the first innings but at the end of the day the batters had some good performances and the bowlers as well had some good performances,” he explained.
He stated further that the team has been match-ready for a while now.
Griffith believes that his team has already won the championship.
“This time we have already completed it because we are above 22 point and the maximum point is 20, so despite the outcome of this game we have already achieved the championship,” he explained.
Despite this, he said the team will play to the best of it ability.
“We just want to make sure and ensure that we give a good showdown to represent our country in a proper manner,” Griffith said.
