Luan Gabriel shines at Falcon Games; says thanks to sponsors

Luan Gabriel

Luan Gabriel was selected by Coach Nabi Wallace to represent the Portsmouth Amateur Athletics Club (PAAC) and by extension Dominica in the Falcon Games competition in Tobago.

This meet was held over the weekend of April 16th and 17th 2011 and featured all the national athletes that will represent Trinidad & Tobago at the 2011 Carifta Games in Montego Bay Jamaica.

Luan made her presence felt on the first day of competition defeating Trinidad’s Carifta representative in the U-17 girls 200 meters running a new national record of 24.67 seconds.

On day two Luan returned and run a season best on the track of 12.13 seconds in the 100 meters which again earned her another gold medal. It was her aim to break the 12 seconds barrier in the 100 meters finals which she has been chasing all season.

However she is not deterred as her eyes are now set on giving Dominica the best possible representation at this year’s Carifta Games in Montego Bay, Jamaica where she is destined to attain her goal times set for the season.

On behalf of the Portsmouth Amateur Athletics Club, Luan Gabriel gratitude is extended to Miss Renata Siegenthaler for answering the call to sponsor this female sprinting sensation to attend the Falcon Games.

Luan would like to also say thank you to all those who contributed in one way or another in assisting to bring her to this level. Special thanks goes out to PAAC Assistant Coach Renard Paul for aiding Luan in implementing her training plans sent from Coach Nabi and to team captain Sherwyn Xavier for his constant words of encouragement.
