University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) student-athlete Luan Gabriel, from Dominica, has continued 2017 on the track just as she ended 2016.
Gabriel competed in her first meet of 2017, the Coach O Invitational which was hosted by her school.
Competing in the 400m, Gabriel completed the race in a time of 59.21s for the gold, beating her time of 59.57s at the UMES Collegiate Lid Lifter Invitational in December.
Gabriel also competed in the 200m, finishing 2nd overall in a time of 26.36 seconds.
Gabriel is in action again on the 14th at the UMES Collegiate Lid Lifter Invitational in Ocean Breeze, NY.
Gabriel, from Bioche, was among two athletes who represented Dominica at the London Olympics in 2012.
keeep the community of Dublanc and Bioche alive let them know we rock in all sports .A
This girl was beating the Jamaicans in JA before the 2012 Olympics I suspect she has inate talent.
I hope that Thea Lafond looks after her in Maryland.
Wishing her every success
Winston who ever the he’ll you is .you need to shout your ass ok .you cannot do better just give my cousin a break you step on the wrong tree…go lulu go we no you will make it out there and we love you and we got your back.
YOU GO GIRL. We as Dominicans appreciate the good name you,re giving our blessed land. All the best in this 2017 and far beyond. Almighty’s blessings and excellent health. Keep up the wonderful work. We believe in you.
That picture is from the London 2012 Olympics. That is 4 1/2 years ago. Can we have a more up-to-date image please?
BRILLIANT
Hate to burst your bubble. Luan is very slow for international competition.
Winston, this is true but you are too miserable garcon. She is not even listed as an official 400 mt. runner by the IAAF but as a 200mt. performer where she has a best time ever of 24.09.
We should encourage her and I hope the DOC support her and not use her again as they did so cynicallyin london only because she is a woman athlete from Dominica. Good luck luan, you won this race.
In all spheres of human endeavour, it is the challenge of attaining goals that spurs the participant on. From what I’ve seen of her, Luan is well capable of meeting that challenge.
In the meantime she serves as an inspiration to young Dominicans at a time when other role models are regrettably absent.
I concur with you..I was about to ask for the olympics qualifying time..Don’t mind the negative comment, you are on point, if she is way behind this time…Most Dominicans hate the truth.
if you take the time to do a lil research u will realise she is just 6 seconds from the olympics qualifying time. with more hard work she will make it. keep doing great young lady
Green is not a good color on you. At least she’s there pushing and making her family and country proud. No superstar started from the top. Luan is work in progress and rest assured she will shine on the international stage. GO Luan!! Haters like this only motivate.
MORANS like you want to make me stop reading DNO. W?N?ton. You are such a discouraging nothing. Instead of making these disparaging remarks why don’t you encourage the young lady. The race of whatever amount of miles begins with the 1st step. Ms. Gabriel do not let these negative comments deter you.
Continue to shine and make us proud my girl.
You Go Girl!
Hooray!!! Congratulations
that’s great, keep it up…
Congratulation my cousin
