Shane Shillingford is among three West Indies cricketers who have penalised under The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Code of Conduct.

The WICB confirmed on Thursday that the penalty had been imposed on Dominican Shillingford, along with Dave Bernard Jr of Jamaica and Kevin Stoute from Barbados, following the first round of the Professional Cricket League Regional 4-Day Tournament which ended last Monday.

A WICB release stated that Bernard and Stoute were reported by umpires Peter Nero, Jonathan Blades and Ryan Willoughby during the match between Barbados Pride and Jamaica Scorpions at Kensington Oval for Level 1 breaches of the code.

They both showed dissent at an umpire’s decision by appealing excessively for an lbw decision which was given “not-out”.

Shillingford, the release added, was reported by umpires Nandkumar Shivsankar, Joel Wilson and Imran Moakan during the match between Windward Islands Volcanoes and Guyana Jaguars at the Guyana National Stadium, also for a Level 1 breach of the code.

“Shillingford was penalised for conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game, when he attempted to bring the game into disrepute through pointing at his elbow during an appeal for caught while he was batting in the 45th over of the Volcanoes’ second innings, deliberately attempting to influence the umpire’s decision,” the release states

All three players were fined 10 per cent of their match fees, after they admitted to the offence and accepted the imposition of the proposed sanction.

Well Shane, I hope you learn. This is not little Dublanc cricket anymore. This is big man ting. No telling the umpire anything. Whether he wrong or right, it is his decision. May the 10% be a little hard lesson.

Sorry guys. This little projection cost you ten per cent of your salary. Be careful next time with those minute signs which the umpires noticed and made a huge issue out of.

he pointing at his elbows simply suggest that he had not agreed with the umpire decision and he was asking for review decision by the third umpire when there was no television umpire.this is bringing the game in disrepute no discipline at all, umpire decision is final shane shillingford

This is such BS. If a player appealing too much to the Umpire makes the Umpire change his mind then that is part of the game. And Shane pointing to his elbow, really? It is the job of the umpire to know what he saw, and make a decision based on what he saw. A player pointing to his elbow “brings disrepute to the game?”

    Absolutely agree with Shaka Zulu.

This game is becoming a joke!!! Are we serious? I thought the guys had curve off the umpires. Well, the players have already lost their passion for the game so next will be their emotions. These umpires seem to be too soft.

Why don’t they all bring their rosary pray after every over, shake hands, and share hugs and kisses while they at it. We are becoming a society of whimps. The umpire decision is final so what is a little protest. Excessive is a relative term.

You are correct. Unfortunately you are not allowed to do so in cricket. Your fate lies in the hand of the umpire, on the field, or the third impire.
