The Fort Young Hotel – Dominica’s Premier Hotel has been awarded the highly prestigious “Award of Excellence” from Trip Advisor, the world’s largest travel site, reflecting the excellent standard of quality and service provided by the hotel. The accolade, which honors hospitality excellence, is given only to establishments that consistently achieve outstanding traveler reviews on Trip Advisor, and is extended to qualifying businesses worldwide. Approximately 10 percent of accommodations listed on Trip Advisor receive this prestigious award.

To qualify for the Certificate of Excellence, The Fort Young maintained an overall rating of four or higher, out of a possible five, as reviewed by travellers on Trip Advisor. “The team at the Fort Young Hotel is extremely pleased to receive Trip Advisor’s Certificate of Excellence,” said Hazel Cadette General Manager (Ag.). We strive to provide excellent service to our guests at all times and to exceed their expectations. This award represents the team’s hard work and dedication in ensuring that our guests have a memorable experience while on property.

“Trip Advisor is pleased to honor exceptional businesses for consistent excellence, as reviewed by travelers on the site,” said Christine Petersen, president of Trip Advisor for Business. “The Certificate of Excellence award gives highly rated establishments around the world the recognition they deserve. From exceptional accommodations in Beijing to remarkable restaurants in Boston, we want to applaud these businesses for offering Trip Advisor travelers a great customer experience.”

CONGRATULATIONS to the STAFF and management of the Fort Young Hotel. Great job guys! T

he trade union representing the staff at Fort Young Hotel should publicly express praise for the good work of the staff members. This is how our trade unions in Dominica could seek to re-energize and reactivate the dying interest of workers in the movement.

I have been deliberate in addressing my congratulations to the STAFF and management of the Hotel. Too often, praise is given to management, who already benefit more from the profits, while the significant work of the staff members, the chefs, cooks, waiters/waitresses, bar men, drivers, cleaners, desk /office workers and room attendants etc. etc. are not adequately appreciated for their dedicate customer service and top class hospitality. A trade union cannot limit its representation of workers to fighting for better salaries and improved working conditions. There is more than the unions can do to protect the jobs of their members.

To the management of Fort Young, Dominica needs to hear from you on the proposed construction BY THE GOVERNMENT of a 150 room hotel in Roseau. You need to advise Dominican as to whether you are in agreement with the government’s plan to unfairly compete with and potentially destroy an already feeble private sector. Lest we hear from the former $1 tourism minister and others whose personal economic interest is under violent attack by Roosevelt Skerrit, we cannot expect to hear from them in the future when larger issues of national importance are being discussed.

Fort Young may not be “Dominica’s Premier Hotel” for much longer. In 2-4 years from now, it may be Dominica’s Premier Hotel in an absent PRIVATE SECTOR as the government’s hotels in Roseau and Portsmouth shall be the two largest and most premier hotels in Dominica. If the Labour Party were to remain in office- only Labourites will be employed at our hotels, business at Fort Young will fall and workers who do not support the government will suffer. At this stage, it will be too late to entertain the fruitless noises of the Trade Union officials representing the staff at Fort Young.

Please do not wait until it is too late. Stop the government now. The most that the government should seek to do is work with the private sector in creating an enabling and facilitating environment for economic growth in the economy. If the government remains steadfast in its communistic beliefs that it needs to take over the private sector, then it could promote some kind of joint ventures/partnership with the private sector or invite the Dominica public (at home and abroad) to purchase shares in contributing to the funding, ownership and management of such economic activities.

The trade unions and management of Fort Young must speak out now or forever keep their mouths shut. It will be too late when the gale force winds of corruption completely destroy the Country. By then, it will be too late and we will have no use for those who have decided to remain quiet and betray Dominica with their selfish, uncomfortable and deafening silence.

Trade Unions and Management of Fort Young… Are you Dominica? Yes, I am.

Well, I have not stayed at Fort Young Hotel but I have had the opportunity of enjoying a sumptuous, delicious dinner there. Once when I visited Dominica, a couple who is a friend of the family, honored us with a dinner at Fort Young Hotel. My review of that evening was an excellent one. This included the server who performed an excellent job.
Congratulations, Fort Young Hotel. I know that you will endeavour to continue your excellent performance. On my next visit I look forward to enjoying another excellent sumptuous and delicious lunch or dinner, maybe breakfast. Who knows? We may just plan to spend a few nights at your Hotel.
Should I know of those who wish to visit Dominica especially if they are not Dominicans, I will recommend your hotel to them. Continued progress and success to you.
DNO this is an excellent advertisement for Fort Young Hotel. Many Dominicans and others will read it. I am certain that they will take note as I and also recommend visitors to Dominica and to Fort Young Hotel, probably as also a group.
We are not beyond promoting our beautiful, sunny and picturesque island, excellent hotel hospitality and friendship of nationals. We also do this when the opportunity presents itself.
Thank you DNO! Management of Fort Young Hotel obviously appreciates it.

This is proof of how unintelligent the people who use this site are. Every time something of importance is posted in the news very few or no one has any comments not even to offer congratulations, however when anything that is not worth mentioning is posted , these idiots are quick to write comments that lack common sense or intelligence.Congratulations to fort young hotel management and staff. Keep up the good work. you make Dominica proud.
