Tuesday is Budget Day

Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Roosevelt Skerrit will present an EC$437.6 million dollar Budget to Parliament when the House meets on Tuesday.

As is customary at the start of a new Parliamentary Session, there will be an address by head of state President Nicholas Liverpool.

During the sitting PM Skerrit will table the Report of the Director of Audit for the Fiscal Year ended June 30, 2010.

One do hope and trust that the Budget will be pregnant with revenue generating plan and strategies! One is also looking forward to income generating plans from this years budget! The economy wants a booster! Grants, grants are goood but the leaders need to tell Dominicans how the budget would be revenue generating!

Don’t they always state where revenue will come from?

One such revenue area is VAT… Any other Revenue generating aspect will have to be a new Tax, that’s what government do, they collect tax so what exactly you want to hear an increase in tax??

The private sector must look at ways to increase their revenues, DAPEX say they want boat, they should try to raise money through issuing of shares to the public and purchase a boat… Government cannot be Private and Public Sectors at the same time!!!
