Dominican youth will be presented with the opportunity to express their talents in a Youth Talk Thru Arts (YTTA) showcase to be held today (Saturday March 16, 2013) at the Arawak House of Culture in Roseau.
Youth Talk Through Arts is a celebration of youth talent that provides a platform for young artists and entrepreneurs to showcase their skills, while expressing themselves on issues affecting them in a non-judgmental arena.
The main objective of the project is to empower young people to participate in governance processes and inform policy areas affecting youth through the creative/performing arts.
The project started in November 2012. It included 9 district consultations across Dominica, two creative arts workshops at Roseau and Marigot and an interactive advertisement campaign (harlem shake, videos, discussion forum and flash mob) using primarily social media.
The final showcase today will feature young people from all over Dominica presenting over 30 acts in song, dance, drama, photography, film, fashion and spoken word poetry.
Youth Talk Through Arts (YTTA), is being presented by The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Barbados and OECS office, through the Youth Think Tank (YTT) of the Caribbean, with the support of the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Sports.
The showcase begins at 5.00pm is free to the general public.
DNO will also be teaming up with with Comeseetv to stream the event live.

Kudos to Delroy and his team…we need to recognise the efforts and hard work of our young people… when they do bad we lambase them.. when they do good let us give them their flowers please….
Help the youth so they can grow positive, half aloaf is better than none,we just need a few good ones.
I am so glad to see that the youth are taking the opportunity to express their talents in a positive way. We are so bombarded by the media in hearing how the youth of today are committing crime, have poor education and suchlike, so it’s very uplifting to hear of the young people out there who are putting their skills to good use.
Let’s all support the young ones of today that will shape the future of tomorrow.
