The much-anticipated LIAT 2020 launch is just around the corner. Yet, the airline recently faced a setback due to a faulty landing gear issue discovered during test flights of a newly acquired aircraft. The airline acted swiftly, however, and procured new parts to replace the faulty ones, and the replacement process is already underway.
Antigua and Barbuda’s Information Minister, Melford Nicholas, has confirmed that the airline expects to receive the remaining parts in the next few days. The airline’s routine maintenance protocol played a crucial role in detecting the faulty landing gear issue. The protocol mandates specific parts to be changed after a certain number of flying hours or a certain period. With the new parts in hand, the regional carrier is still on track to commence commercial operations in the near future.
However, before the airline can resume flights, it must pass inspection by the Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority to obtain the Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC). LIAT 2020 is the successor to LIAT 1974 and is a joint venture between regional governments and Nigerian airline Air Peace, with Air Peace holding a 70 percent stake in the new airline.
The airline aims to provide better connectivity and more affordable air travel options for the Caribbean region. Despite the recent setback, the airline is optimistic about its future prospects and is taking all necessary steps to ensure the safety and comfort of its passengers.
The airline’s prompt actions to replace the faulty parts demonstrate its commitment to safety and customer satisfaction, giving travelers confidence in its capabilities.
Ibo France: “This administration is of known for its veracity. With them, there must be plenty room left for disappointment. These people are expert liars.”
Bossman, you talk so much foolishness that even your brain and your fingertips are out of sync. See what kind of convoluted koshonie you are typing.
LIAT’s return to the skies would be a hug relief to air passengers of the sub-region. Having said that, it’s cruel that the former LIAT workers are still being denied their severance packages.
This administration is of known for its veracity. With them, there must be plenty room left for disappointment. These people are expert liars.
