Nine time calypso king, Dennison ‘Dice’ Joseph has convincingly added another calypso crown to his cabinet of trophies.
The veteran performer gave a crowd-pleasing rendition of his blockbuster calypso “Chi Chi Bang Bang” to beat Bobb into 2nd place, Checko into 3rd and Soul Puss 4th at the competition held on February 16, 2023.
He said that this crown was intended to honor everyone who had supported him as he got ready for the national competition this evening.
“It feels so good and I am so blessed to have nine crowns, so going for ten is a blessing. I give Jah all the thanks and praise for that. I give all the Dominican people who have supported me throughout the years thanks for that and I hope that I can continue to give them the good vibes,” the champ stated in an interview with state-owned radio.
The competition was held at M&G’s Jerk Hut N Bar in Castle Comfort.
“I give the Dominican people that supported me through all the years thanks for that and I hope that I can still continue to give them the good vibes that they love me for,” he stated.
Daryl “De Bobb” Bobb secured second place, Abel “Checko” Jno Baptiste placed third and Dave “Soul Pus” Pascal fourth.
Nine calypsonians will compete tonight at 8:30 p.m. at the Windsor Park Forecourt in an effort to oust the current Monarch JayDee.
And that is where he will stay with his Chi Chi Bang Bang. You thing people overseas stupid to buy a Chi Chi Bang Bang song.Magi all you magi.Tell him go NY and sing Chi Chi Bang Bang.Like one time he come Bronx dressed in white high on weed, singing BS.
I still like his politically incorrect “Steel Underwear”. He’s great!
All the way for Dice, he is our best calypso performer by far. Good luck my man.
How would you compare him to Breaker, Gregory Bannis? Is there any comparison? Or is Breaker still the best Dominica has ever had?
Great work Dice. Continue to sing as you have done. No turning back. And continue to put the pressure on Chichi. Make sure that he’ll only watch bang but will never ever bang bang no more. Thats how he was born and that’s how he’ll go. That mighty cochonie Chichi
