Dominica has recorded its first Covid-19 death.
The announcement was made by Health Minister Dr. Irving McIntyre during a brief statement on Tuesday.
“We regret to announce that Dominica has recorded its first Covid-19 related death,” he said.
According to Dr. McIntyre, the 46-year-old female, with pre-existing medical conditions, was admitted to the COVID Isolation Unit on August 14th and passed away today, August 17th, 2021.
The Government of Dominica has extended its deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the deceased.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time,” he said.
As of Monday, August 16th, 2021, the number of active Covid-19 cases in Dominica was 575.
