Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit is urging political leaders to promote the importance of vaccination to their constituents.
In making the appeal during his weekly Annou Pale Talk Show over the weekend, the prime minister gave the assurance that there are enough vaccines to vaccinate the Dominican population.
“We have to realize that Dominica is not immune; this is a worldwide pandemic and to what extent are we going to take responsibility for getting Dominica out of the surge so that economic activity can resume in earnest?” he asked. “Many of the people or the same people who are most vocal about the government’s response to Covid-19, are also astonished anti-vaccinated people, but evidence shows one way out of this pandemic and one way of giving us a fair chance to fight this pandemic is vaccination and I want to also say to political leaders that you cannot remain silent.”
Prime Minister Skerrit stated that political leaders here and abroad should not remain silent, hoping that there is some political benefit by not encouraging persons to get vaccinated when they themselves have taken the vaccine.
“If something is good for you it must be good for the people whom you are representing,” he said. “I cannot come to the nation and tell the people to take the vaccine when I have not been vaccinated.”
He said that political leaders who purposefully side step their responsibility to encourage their constituents not to get vaccinated must not be accepted, “and we have to call them out.”
Skerrit stressed that the main focus of his government is the health, social and economic well-being of Dominicans.

Well Mr.Dictator this is one of the few times I will support your position. Matter of fact I have been wondering why if you care so much about the health and well being of our small nation state that you have not mandated the covid vaccine for all Civil/ Public servants especially healthcare workers. I have concluded that there are four steps to bring this under control name;
1. Give the people a nice stimulus immediately with the smallest amount being about $2500.00 per person and two days to stock up
2. Shut down the country for three weeks with people going out only to get vaccinated during lockdown village by village
3. Mandate that by the end of the three weeks lockdown ALL civil/ public servants must be vaccinated or don’t show up for work
4. Have Dowasco lay off all the cabalists who love laying pipe especially since all our nurses in the Stockfarm area will be administering vaccines at clinics everyday during pipe laying hours.

Mr Skerrit, why waste your time asking these people to take the Vaccine if they don’t want to I have two simple solutions first let them have their cake and eat it, secondly cancelling of independent, Christmas, Carnival, and Easter that will teach those suckers!
Oh now the hypocrite Skerrit wants to tell Linton what to speak on and what not to speak on? Vaccine is a personal decision that one should make based on their personal conviction and I don’t think Mr Linton in particular should tell people what to do. Skerrit as the sitting pM should take a decision as to what he wants to do dictate on the people, especially with the whole question of Covid 19 and the vaccine is connected to China and has all the elements of the anti Christ and the Mark of the Beast.
In my opinion Mr Linton and other leaders should put pressure on Skerrit to force him to account for the $4.5 billion dollars Mr Linton told us is missing. Further more I want Mr Linton to continue to ask Skerrit for tax break and a stimulus package so the people of Dominica could have some cash to deal with the pressure of Covid 19 that’s been put on us. So Skerrit don’t try that please because Mr Linton was not put in there by you like Savarin and others.
I agree people should be encouraged to take the vaccine; however, in a place like Dominica where everything is easily politicize if the politician words are not partisan oriented its okay.
Nevertheless, if politicians are going to come out and talk the garbage as that Charles spoke about our data as if she and the medical establishment in Dominica did some medical research which makes her an authority on vaccine, it would be better if politician stay out of it.
I think it would serve a better purpose if those of us who fully vaccinated volunteer our advice since we have already experienced some sort of side effects or none.
I took took the Moderna vaccine, I did not suffer any side effects.
If that type is not available in Dominiica one should be utilized what we have.
Nevertheless, their reasons for getting vaccinated should not be because a dumb politician say they declaring some stupid war, on something they don’t know about.

Come on PM, such a cheap Political shot. You can do better than that. Why do you think that Political leaders should be called out by you for not encouraging people to be vaccinated. Linton has already made his views clear on the matter, he has also shared his personal view. Don’t you think that individual Citizens or the electorate have their own opinion, and their opinion should be respected just like you and all the other Politicians. The Majority of people have no idea what it is to govern a Country, especially in such crisis, it’s not what you wanted. Political correctness is something not understood by people outside looking in, you have made it clear you will not mandate Vaccination by Law, It was not an easy decision to make and not popular among Leaders. Skerrit, you as PM remain silent about the CBI money. You remain silent about such massive investments from our CBI money like the Kempinski hotel. There are very strong rumours that the Kempinski s closing its doors as of tomorrow. If you, as PM, can stay silent about issues like that, I’m sure the leaders of the other political parties have a right to stay silent about about the Covid issue. After all, they aren’t in government and as such they are powerless. So why waste their breath in particular since the majority of issues our island is facing right now, are actually home made, because of flaunting of the rules by yourself and your supporters and by allowing cruise ships in.
There isn’t proof that Skerrit himself take the vaccine. Instead of minding other people business, explain to us how 14 people can be on a cramped bus, but only 10 in a big church for a funeral or wedding? I find this worrying. Does the PM have access to medical records of local political leaders, who by definition must be in the opposition. Such records should be strictly private and confidential. While I fully support vaccination I also defend the choice of people not to be vaccinated and the PM himself has made it clear that he does not believe in compulsion. He should be more concerned with our people in the Govt. health service and persuade them to be vaccinated as a matter of priority. Give them an inducement if you must. By all accounts he is is very good at that.

What a colossal charlatan! This dishonest man has tried his hardest to exclude the Opposition from all governmental decisions and debates even in parliament. In fact, he exclaimed that Dominica doesn’t need any Opposition. What a foolish thing to say! It has now come back to haunt him.
Now that he and his enablers have mismanaged the COVID-19 situation like everything else, he now belatedly and reluctantly realizes that an Opposition is essential to good governance of a country.

My honest open opinion is to have respect for the personal life of everyone irrespective of who they are and what they do as long as it’s their personal matter and choice. Mr. Skerrit what you are asking for may be a good thing, however, sadly you have lost moral authority to lead. As a result of your actions people do not respect and will not listen to you. You need to take drastic steps to rebuild that trust. Start by instituting disciplinary actions against this greedy northern minister who is building another multimillion dollar house when that individual already has several expensive homes. My Party, the Dominica Labour Party will fall and this is going to be a hard fall. He who has eyes to see let him see and he who have ears to hear let him hear.
