The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force (CDPF) is currently investigating a motor vehicular road traffic collision that claimed the life of a male adult from St Lucia.
According to Reports from Inspector Fixton Henderson, On Monday, March 13, 2023, at about 4:35 PM Kyle Gustave, 25, of St Lucia residing at Concord was riding his Yamaha in an easterly direction along the highway in Concord. He was accompanied by pillion rider 51- year-old Flavia Vitatis of St Lucia also residing at Concord.
While approaching an incline at Stonefield Concord, the rider apparently attempted to overtake a Honda CRV driven by Sana James, a female adult of Marigot when the motorcycle collided with the right front side of a public service bus driven by Keiron Frederick, a male adult of Mahaut River in the Kalinago Territory which was traveling in the opposite direction.
“The impact catapulted the motorcycle along with both riders under the CRV,” Henderson explained. “The riders received multiple injuries and were transported to the Wesley Health Centre.”
He said the motorcycle was extensively damaged.
The bus also received damage to its right side and the Honda CRV received minor damage.
He stated that the riders were subsequently transferred to the emergency department of the Dominica-China Friendship Hospital (DCFH).
Vitatis, the pillion rider, was examined and pronounced dead that same evening by a medical doctor.
His body is being kept at a funeral home pending an autopsy, while the rider Gustave was admitted to the Alford Ward.
The CDPF expresses its sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased and wishes the injured a speedy and full recovery.
