House fire claims life of a 17-year-old boy from the community of Cottage

Cottage villagers rescued a 16-year-old boy from a house fire, his 17-year-old brother’s body was found by first responders

The Commonwealth of Dominica police force (CDPF) is investigating the cause of a house fire that claimed the life of a 17-year-old boy from the community of Cottage.

According to reports from Acting Inspector, Fixton Henderson, on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at about 4:45 pm villagers of that community noticed that the concrete house was on fire and a 16-year-old mentally challenged boy, Cody Victor who lived there was trapped inside.

“The villagers rescued the 16-year-old boy and notified the fire department before the fire engulfed sections of the house,” Henderson revealed.

He said fire officers and the police responded, controlled, and extinguished the fire.

Furthermore, Henderson indicated that the fire caused significant damage to the house and its contents.

“The burnt lifeless body of another occupant of the house, Thomason Victor, the 17-year-old brother of Cody Victor who was also mentally challenged was discovered in the house by first responders,” Henderson revealed. He explained that at the time of the fire the two mentally challenged boys were alone in the house.

Thomason Victor was examined and pronounced dead by a medical doctor at the scene.

His body is being kept at a funeral home awaiting an autopsy.

His brother Cody Victor was treated at the Reginald Fitzroy Armour Hospital and discharged the same day.

Investigations continue into the cause of the fire.

The CDPF expresses its sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

Time will surely reveal and Justice will be served. Questions to be Asked. Where was the person responsible for the kids?
Why was the house locked with a padlock?
Why is she labelled as the victim? Her family knew that she was capable of locking these kids up. Hmmm

What a tragedy for that family! My most profound sympathy to the grieving family members of the deceased.

I hope the entire community and the government reach out to the bereaved family in this of adversity and try to cushion their unimaginable pain.

The Cottage community KNEW that this lady was locking these boys in the house like caged animals, and what did they do about it? Nothing. Nada. Now they are pointing fingers. Too late! Wicked and hypocrite people, God don’t like ugly!

Did these mentally and physically challenged boys have parents? Where were they at the time of the fire 🔥 mr Austrie what assistance did you and your Cabal render to assure the safety and care of these individuals; maybe $32,000 from the Dr Dr monthly rental for his mansion could have gone a long way to assist those needy persons.

The Social Welfare and the boys’ legal guardian should be held responsible for this. Period. All the reports that were made to Welfare about these kids being locked in a house, and what exactly did Welfare do?? Ask MEWDO why was she locking two mentally challenged boys in a house to go about her affairs. If peril comes their way, in her absence, how are they supposed to save themselves? If she couldn’t take care of them as was necessary, then she should’ve given up the responsibility. N the money. N the barrels of assistance. Sacway mechanstay. Why should villagers have to break into a locked house to rescue two boys from a fire? And whilst her family on social media like Rottweilers when people share their views, she is trying to manipulate the surviving brother into giving a false account in her favor. This must be a movie!! But fear not, God is watching.
