
Former Miss Dominica, Cathie Burton-York, has died after a long battle with cancer.
Burton-York won the title of Miss Dominica in 1990. She was 56 years old at the time of her passing in England.
Dominica News Online understands that she died on Sunday.
“I am greatly [saddened] to announce the passing of my dear Sister, Cathie Burton-York, after a long battle with cancer,” her brother Lara J Roberts wrote in a public post on social media platform, Facebook.
“She fought with courage till her very last breath. She died this morning peacefully surrounded by her children and family members. May her soul rest in God’s eternal hands.”
Cathie Burton-York hailed from the Kalinago Territory.
