The police have concluded their investigation into the homicide/arson of eco-resort owners Daniel Langlois and his wife Dominique Marchand and charges have formally been preferred against two Americans accused of their murder.
American-born and owner of the Bois Cotlette, Jonathan Lehrer, as well as his said accomplice Robert Snider are expected to appear before the Roseau Magistrate Court today, where the charge of murder will be read to them.
On December 1, 2023, police discovered the charred remains of two individuals in a burnt vehicle at Gallion at about 7:00 a.m., believed to be those of French Canadians Langlois and Marchand, respected proprietors of the highly-regarded Coulibri Ridge Eco Resort, who had been reported as missing. The burnt vehicle also aligned with the description of the missing couple, police sources further revealed.
Unfortunately, according to the police, extreme fire conditions rendered the bodies unidentifiable, compelling investigators to rely on circumstantial evidence linking them to the missing couple.
During the course of the police investigation, investigators had taken into custody, Lehrer, his wife, Snider and a Dominican man.
Langlois and Lehrer found themselves embroiled in a heated dispute revolving around the utilization of the Morne Rouge Public Road, a passage which cuts through Bois Cotlette’s 53-acre estate.
The dispute started when Lehrer, the owner of Bois Cotlette Inc, blocked the road by placing boulders, digging a trench, and deploying equipment, impeding Langlois’ access to their property. This interference prompted Langlois to take legal action, citing damages, loss, and tortious interference with their economic interests. They sought a permanent injunction against Lehrer and his company from disrupting their use of the Morne Rouge Public Road.
Legal proceedings commenced with an interim injunction issued on October 30, 2018, by the High Court mandating Lehrer to unblock the road and restore it to its prior condition. Subsequent hearings in November 2018 led to further court orders, including directives involving the Attorney General.
In 2019, High Court Judge Bernie Stephenson, in her ruling, affirmed the road’s public status, granting Langlois’ guests unrestricted access.
Lehrer and Snider are represented by attorney-at-law Wayne Norde and Lennox Lawrence.
SOMETHING FISHY HERE.
The evidence doesn’t seem strong apart from two sets of x pats fighting over a traditional access road that was built since Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte gave as a wedding gift, the southern 1/2 of Dominica to his martiniqian wife Josephine’s son, (Bello, ancestor of the Bellot family.) and built her The plantation house with the road passing next to it and continues into the plantation and other properties beyond.
The sad reality is that while being praised as ‘environmentally sustainable hotel’ they created an environmental disaster because to build the hotel they dismantled most of the critical rock terraces built by our slave ancestors on the southern slopes facing Martinique, causing massive soil erosion and landslides which in turn silts the reefs and destroys the dive sites, fishery….

Those alleged killers look pretty confident riding in the police vehicle like tourists and smiling. I’ve already wager on the outcome that these guys will be put on on bail and they will leave the country never to return. If here, you could be arrested and jailed for committing no crime, then here, you could be set free for committing the most heinous crimes. It all depends on the level of “connection.” This has happened numerous times and it’s an ongoing problem here in Dominica.
What a disgusting way to treat a neighbour.
Allu always ready to teach. If allu was so focus in school if in space allu would be all now. stop wasting time on these trivial things when there is a big picture. a man and woman dwelling together are common-law husband and wife. This is neither here nor there.
It?
You mean HER?
And who cares whether wife or partner is used here?
It’s hardly a salient point
They are BOTH dead because of the greed of their insane neighbours
Pretty clear really
@dissident, and what if he is a CBI agent?
But no mention that the accused may be a CBI agent.
If that is true then the entire story takes a new light.
CBI, CBI CBI
We can’t seem to unwrap ourselves from it eh.
Did de accuser feel that if he is a close partner of de government with his CBI interests………somebody turned a blind eye to de real issue on de ground.
If he is really a CBI agent……..I wonder about due diligence.
de man had an issue with a foreign investor
what if it was just a simple Dominican land-owner from de area?
@dissident, and what if he is a CBI agent?
It was once his “partner” now it’s his wife? So they got married after death? That’s a new one.
Get real.
But who is the accomplice
