One individual is currently being sought by the Commonwealth of Dominica Police in connection with a road traffic collision that claimed the life of 33-year-old Al Samora Knight of Zicack Portsmouth.
On Saturday 11, March 2023, at about 6:40 p.m., Knight was standing on the western side of a public road at Holland Street in Zicack Portsmouth when he was struck by a motor vehicle, Inspector Fixton Henderson reported.
“The driver of that motor vehicle failed to bring the vehicle to a stop after the collision and drove away from the scene. The driver is currently being sought by the police,” he stated.
Henderson further disclosed that after the collision, Knight was found lying on the street with apparent serious head injuries.
According to the police inspector, Knight was transported to the Reginald Fitzroy Armour Hospital in Portsmouth via ambulance, where he was examined and pronounced dead by a medical doctor that same evening.
“The body is being kept at a funeral home pending an autopsy. The Commonwealth of Dominica police force expresses its sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.” Henderson remarked.
Dominica News Online (DNO) will continue to follow this story and report any new developments once they become available.
DNO extends sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
The police appears to be covering for someone. Why we are not being told the vehicle registration number or the name of the driver if he/she is being sort by the police? It is within the Authority of the police to release the name and other info when someone is a suspect in a crime. Could it be a labour party operative? Remember the hit and run case at Pottersville involving the vehicle of the labour party operative from Point Mitchel? Nothing came from that case, the police buried the case.
DNO, can you comment on whether the police know the identity of the person they are looking for or the type of vehicle/color etc.
ADMIN: This is all the information we could confirm at the time, but we will update as soon as new and reliable information is available.
Where in Portsmouth or in Dominica can a driver hit a person and run at 6:30 pM and nobody sees and nobody knows ? Is Dominica now a Nobody sees Nobody hears and nobody knows?
How does Insp.Henderson know the victim was hit by a motor vehicle?A motor cycle is also a motor vehicle. In order to assist the police the public should know if the motor vehicle was a van, car, bus or motor cycle.A hit and run is a criminal offence, and the accused may be charged with murder. In a traffic accident the charge is causing death by dangerous driving.
