Information reaching Dominica News Online (DNO) is that Jean Jacques, who was being sought by the police for the past 24 hours, was found hanging from a tree earlier today.
The 48-year-old man was wanted for the murder of his longtime girlfriend, Avonelle Charles, both from Morne Prosper.
On December 31, 2022, the lifeless body of Charles was found on the road in Morne Prosper in a pool of blood.
Reports indicate that about 3:00 a.m, on the aforementioned date, Charles and Jean Jacques were involved in an argument when she was killed.
At the time of the incident, Charles a mother of seven who was a market vendor was preparing to go to the market to sell her produce.
Family members of the deceased and residents of Morne Prosper revealed that the couple had a long history of domestic abuse.
Following the homicide, police had mounted a search for the suspect who was ,they believe, on the run.
Charles death brought Dominica’s toll of homicide to 18 for the year 2022.

The nation needs to pause to take time out to reflect on how far we have descended from our once high moral standards.
A single incident of murder once traumatised the entire country. These days most of the population has become almost completely desensitised to the most heinous of murders. How did we get here?
We can’t allow this to become a generational custom. Collectively, we should combine our efforts and resources to fight this scourge.
It is my fervent hope that law enforcement authorities will get the requisite training and resources to competently do their job. Crime does not discriminate it affects all citizens regardless to your social status. Therefore it is imperative that we all contribute towards crime prevention.

My God that sad news keep coming. I know we all wanted to have him captured alive but all in all another sad news to start the new year. I am thinking of the chicken who got up a day before News Years eve with both mother and father and two days later both vanished, not because of illness but because of brutality that the authorities could’ve avoided but again failed the children. We just were given another opportunity on December 6 to cast out those demons over our land and declare them to be improper and unlawful but just to be on the Ham and Turkey list we chose to keep them in place for 5 more yrs.

The sad, depressing news keeps on occurring unabated. It truly hurts to the senseless loss of sacred lives. Someone has destroyed the moral fabric of the society. We need to pray increasingly for divine intervention while we collectively as a nation work to put mechanisms in place to appreciably reduce the unprecedented level of violet deaths.

We cannot use cleanliness to define the Beauty of Love, which is the Nature of our Holy God–that is where so many of us make the mistake that will forever change our way of Life–through so many gruesome disappointment.
Do you know that Lucifer, the angel that took the form a serpent to cause Adam and Eve to rebel against Almighty God, through their gruesome sin with him–especially Eve–was known as the “Son of the Morning Star” in his form as an angel? So he was beautiful, but there was no Love in him.
I will agree with the belief that Love must come with Cleanliness. But Love can never be “disgraceful” however it is revealed.
