Two arrested following fatal Picard shooting

Police have arrested two individuals, a male and female, following a shooting incident which left one man dead in the Picard area on Sunday evening.

This information was revealed by Police Chief Lincoln Corbette during a press conference on Monday.

The victim was identified as a national from St Kitts.

According to Corbette, at about 9:20 PM last evening, the Portsmouth police reported gunshots in the vicinity of Picard.

“The police responded and found the body of a young black male with braided hair lying motionless,” he explained. “The doctor was summoned to the scene and pronounced the individual dead.”

Corbette urged members of the public to assist the police by calling the hotline at 1-800 TIPS.

Investigations are ongoing.

Never a dull day in Dominica. It’s fires, floods, landslips, widespread electricity outages, now homicide once again.

With all these adverse happenings, plus rising cost of living, increasing unemployment, a deteriorating healthcare system, it is difficult most of the time to maintain your sanity.

Sincerest condolences to the family of the deceased. Hope that this will be the last homicide for the current year. Personal conflicts must not be settled by the barrel of a gun. We can do better.

Well-loved. Like or Dislike: Thumb up 20 Thumb down 5
