UPDATE: Tragic motor vehicle collision claims life of Pottersville man

Authorities are investigating a fatal road incident that occurred early Saturday morning on Elliot Avenue in Pottersville. The collision, which took place around 7:30 a.m., involved a pedestrian and a blue four-door Suzuki Swift bearing registration number TQ 807.

According to the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force (CDPF), the vehicle was owned by Jonah Austrie of Grand Fond and was being driven at the time by 21-year-old Kacey Cadette of Castle Bruce. The pedestrian, identified as Heskeith Francis, a male adult residing at 28 Elliot Avenue, was struck by the left front of the vehicle while Cadette was traveling in a northerly direction.

Emergency services responded promptly, and Francis was transported by ambulance to the Dominica China Friendship Hospital. He was later pronounced dead by a medical doctor. His body remains at the hospital pending a postmortem examination.

The Traffic Department, in collaboration with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the CDPF, has launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.

In an official statement, the CDPF extended its deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, Heskeith Francis.
