Watch live stream of funeral of Freddie “Man Himself” Mendes today

live streamingThe funeral service of the late calypsonian, calypso writer and teacher, Freddie “Man Himself” Mendes, will be streamed live on Dominica News Online from 10.00 am on Saturday 22nd March 2014.

DNO has teamed up with Multi-Solutions to stream the service which will be held at the St. Gerarad’s Hall Chapel.

Described as a “gentle giant” Mendes was said to be one of Dominica’s finest calypso writers.

He wrote calypsos for a number of calypsonians including Superior Picky, Bassie, Scrunter, Lady Star and Beetle J and the late Mighty Spider. He also composed various renditions for his students at the St Martin Secondary school, where he taught, for their annual calypso show.

    I can’t believe my teacher is gone I’m still crying . It was
    a pleasure to be taught by one of the most humble
    man ever.

    For those of us who are the Dominican diasporas, , who are in the U.S.A. Canada and the U.K for a long time who was Freddie? can we have a little back ground of who he was ?.

      There were several articles presented on DNO about Freddie Mendes, since he passed away last Tuesday. Go back and read and you will get a lot of information on who Freddie Mendes was.
