The United Progressive Party (UPP) has unveiled its official website, introducing a digital platform aimed at transforming how citizens access information, engage with policy development, and interact with the party.
The site, available at www.uppdominica.com offers direct access to the party’s founding documents and provides tools for supporters to donate, register for membership, or volunteer. Built-in translation support ensures accessibility for Dominicans worldwide, broadening participation across the diaspora.
Party leader Joshua Francis described the launch as a milestone in Dominican politics.
“This isn’t just a website; it is a digital town hall, a policy laboratory, and a movement headquarters all in one,” Francis said. “We are tearing down the walls between elected officials and the communities they serve, creating unprecedented transparency and dialogue.”
Key features of the platform include:
- A secure online donation portal, making UPP the only party in Dominica to offer digital donations directly through its website.
- Public access to the full party constitution, providing transparency into the organization’s rules, structure, and guiding values.
- Membership and volunteer registration forms, enabling citizens to join or contribute from anywhere.
- Translation support to reach a wider and more diverse audience.
Looking ahead, UPP plans to expand the platform with interactive features such as community forums, policy tracking, and real-time transparency dashboards to further strengthen public engagement and accountability.
Citizens are encouraged to visit www.uppdominica.com to view the constitution, register support or membership, make donations, and learn more about the party’s mission and values.
Founded in 2022 in the Kalinago Territory, the United Progressive Party was established to provide a transparent, accessible, and community-driven alternative in national politics. The party promotes fairness, accountability, and broad citizen participation. Its symbol, an orange bottle, represents independence and freedom under the law, and its motto is Together for Progress.
Is this a mockery of the state of politics in Dominica? The UPP can be equated to a ghost political party. It cannot even attract five viable candidates to contest an election at present.
The putative leader salivate at the thought of gaining power. But his much publicised scandals continue to dog him. The electorate has become so disillusioned with politicians presenting themselves as saints in opposition, but are nothing more than crooks, charlatans and criminals.
I must admit that the presumed leader of this new shadowy political party is quite charismatic, perspiccious and seemingly empathetic. Qualities which are quite admirable. However, he is of questionable character. All members of his nuclear family (former household unit) have repudiated him. That speaks volumes to me. Activism will be a much better alternative than politics in my most humble opinion.
Too many adult Dominicans gravitate toward becoming politicians for selfish reasons- quickest path to get rich.
