Chairman of the Electoral Reform Coalition (ERC) Johnson Boston has called on all Dominicans to stand together as one to ensure that Dominica gets proper electoral reform.
He was addressing supporters at a rally organized by the ERC held at the arch in Roseau on the weekend.
“Brothers and sisters we call you to stand, stand with us, stand for yourself, stand for your children, stand for our country, and together we will ensure that we get proper electoral reform,” he said.
According to him, the ERC has been on the move for a number of years and has done all in its power “for the government to understand that electoral reform is very important because elections have consequences.”
Boston said the ERC will not allow the government to legalize treating or bribery to keep themselves as incumbent, “to exploit the loophole in the legislation.”
“We must make elections here in Dominica free, fair, and transparent,” he stated.
“Tell the Attorney General and the group they have drafting the new legislation, let me say to you, why would the Prime Minister, the Attorney General, and the group they have drafting the new legislation, why would they remove from the Dennis Byron recommendation the campaign finance legislation in the draft laws?” Boston asked. “Having paid 700,000 dollars of our tax money to pay Sir Dennis Byron to do the reform then he [the prime minister] threw that away.”
He continued, “Our money went down the drain…”
He added, “We want to go to Parliament with the right laws that all of us in Dominica can stand up in a united way to say in our country that we have a reform that makes sense. They removed the provision that says that if you are out of state for more than five years you ought not to vote.”
Boston declared, “We are saying loud and clear for them to hear, for the rest of the Caribbean, the world to hear that we in Dominica cannot go to bed and sleep and let our country go down to the gutters.”

Boso my bro, I love you and the ERC but you all have fought valiantly and its now time for we the people to take matters in our very own hands. You see how scared the SOS was on Sunday that he mobilized the entire force even those on sick leave? Its even ALLEGED that there were some covert RSS forces in plain clothes posing as attendees in the crowd and in strategic areas on island. This kid of madness by the RSS must STOP immediately if true.
Now let us STOP the blablahing and take the fight for all Dcan’s underground. Let the people loose because the politicians seem not to understand when its time to stop talking. Let us evoke the spirits of Mal, Peltier, Unisef, Zaboca, Bala, Congoree, Bala and others collectively. Politicians must now tell Matt and Q audience that the people are free to handle their Electoral Reform and other grievances the way they feel best serve their interest.
Dominicans deserve exactly the bad treatment meted out to them by Roosevelt and his fanatical ‘dispicables’.
He controls the treasury, uses the people’s money mostly on himself and family, gives the citizens pittance, and the majority of the population remain unperturbed. They are satisfied with living from.hand to mouth.
Only an upheaval by the citizens with massive street demonstrations, strikes, closure of roads and businesses, will force the tyrant to take his knee off the people’s necks.
Dominicans seem to be satisfied with begging for their daily bread. People get exactly what they deserve in life.

While I support the call let me make it clear that we are not going to get no reform. We now have to see how we going to grab the bull by the horn and drag it out because that’s the only way demons like the one in office gets removed. This demon did not come through the right democratic door and he is not going to go out through the democratic process. So we need to unite and come with a good secret strategy to get this demon out man
