Commonwealth tackles corruption, domestic and sexual violence, says Secretary General

Baroness Patricia Scotland

Corruption, domestic violence, and sexual violence are some of the main areas where The Commonwealth is placing its force.

This was according to Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Baroness Patricia Scotland who was delivering the keynote address during the 35th Conference of Caribbean Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors Congress held at The InterContinental Dominica Cabrits Resort & Spa in Portsmouth, under the theme “Your Protection, Our Mission”.

Concerning the cost of corruption, the Secretary-General reported on the organization’s direct approach.

“In our Commonwealth, we also know that we have to do more on anti-corruption, the difference between the money we have and the money we need to deliver the sustainable development goals is the sum equivalent that stiffens off by corruption,” she remarked. “And we have tackled it and we have created the Commonwealth anti-corruption bench-marks…”

She also mentioned the “NO MORE” campaign to end domestic violence and sexual violence, identifying it as central in combatting domestic and sexual violence and their effects.

“One in three women in our world suffer from domestic violence at some stage in their lives,” Scotland stated, “But we know that there is an economic cost to that violence and we are determined to address it.”

She continued, “It’s in our work to understand, harness, and master the most profound technological advancement in the history of human civilization to ensure that all our countries and their people can share in the economic potential, to ensure that we capitalize on its capacity for transformational climate change action and to maximize its benefits to minimize its risks to the whole society and to ensure that the commonwealth 1.5 billion young people under the age of 30 have the skills and confidence to shape their future.”

When will the people of Dominica realize that there is no functioning “Commonwealth”, and that this entitled “Baroness” is an irrelevant government waste of money? After all, it seems quite obvious that China currently controls Dominica.

Mamselle just talking for talking sake. She not talking about the corruption we under in Dominica that nothing can be done about? When the Baby Sarah story had come out and everybody was making a big joke about it, but because it was the minister of national security nothing was done except have a few laughs via Ma Boyd and MITC, she wasnt seeing that? She not telling talking about the same statistic and sometimes higher applies to men where domestic violence is concerned? I say maybe higher because normally, men do not report our domestic abuse. So madame with all do respect, but really none at all, please just shut up. Your role is clearly useless as you have 0 impact on what happens here. If you want to do something, work on removing the required visa for Dominicans to enter the UK. Instead of just coming here to talk your new world order rubbish.

Oh Oh, I think they taught us that we are independent. They also taught us that columbus discovered us. I wonder if we can get out of that common wealth without getting sanctions, and no “aid” that we dependent on, imposed upon us.
Remember they casually stopped bananas and devalued all our currencies using calculations only they cooked up and our economists that they train.

Dominica is the epicenter of corruption in the Caribbean. How can a man who was ‘broke’ like a church mouse before he got in politics, become the richest prime minister in the Caribbean? Only through corruption can one achieve such a feat.

This lady has done nothing to promote good governance nor improve the living standards of the millions of ultra poor who reside in the Commonwealth.

Can someone pinpoint one significant accomplishment that the goodly lady can blow her trumpet about? NADA!
