Antigua and Barbuda put no work permit policy on hold

After making a campaign promise to immediately remove the requirement of work permits for CARICOM and Dominican Republic Nations, the Gaston Browne-led administration in Antigua and Barbuda has now said they need more time.

The government said on Thursday morning, that before it discontinues the work permit policy for CARICOM and Dominican Republic nations, further discussions must be held.

“The Cabinet invited the Chief Immigration Officer and three other top officials of the Immigration Department to discuss two matters, according to notes from yesterday’s Cabinet. After a thorough and intense examination and exposition, the Cabinet agreed that the CARICOM Treaty requirements will continue, including the six-month entry allowance for visitors from the CARICOM States”, according to the document.

Further discussions are to take place between lawyers within the Legal Department of the Ministry of Legal Affairs, and experts within the Immigration Department and the Ministry of Labour, according to the Cabinet.

The objective, according to the Cabinet, is to ensure that all is done to make the process seamless and to fulfill the promise.

I have spent the last 3 weeks in Antigua and I must say the country will benefit from a cross fertilization of ideas. Thus, I support the granting of residency to the Africans many whom I have met and are qualified.

As a person from Caricom I see no reason why I cannot commute between Antigua by weekly for work and share my skills without the hassle of a work permit. Perhaps, a qualifying income potential should be used as a benchmark to mitigate charge on Treasury by working visitors.

Too many things in Antigua do not meet international best practices.

Why in 2023 water from persons bathroom and kitchens still running on the streets?

Too many buildings are poorly constructed and will not survive strong winds or earthquakes due to a lack of adequate shear walls

Lies always work with the ignorant and the beggarly. Brown Paperbag and CARICOM’s Duncest Head (Roosevelt) use lies like a doctor’s scalpel. Lies are their best tool to win an election.

If these two were like Pinocchio, that every time they lied their noses grew by a centimeter, their nostrils would have been ideal substitutes for an airport runway to accommodate the world’s largest aircraft.

    Surprise! Surprise! Surprise! NOT!

Brown Paperbag (Gaston) and the region’s Biggest Dunce (Roosevelt) are masters of their craft – DECEPTION.

Gaston lied to the nationals from the Dominican Republic about removing work permit requirements just before the recent national election. Roosevelt lied to Dominicans about the implementation of electoral reforms just after the 2019 election.

Every single word utters by these two exceptional vagabonds are solely with the intention to deceive for political expediency. These two are Siamese twins in duplicity and disinformation.

Lying is a political delicacy for these two shady characters. Both are an existential threat to their countries.

The two most corrupt and satanic leaders in the Caribbean, LIAR Skerrit and Brown Paperbag. This reminds me of Skerrit’s lies before many general elections on island::
    international airport, a lie
buying boats for farmers, a lie
    a new Roseau, a lie
5 universities to replace Ross, a lie
loving poor people, a blatant lie
    national insurance scheme, a lie
road around Ravin Cock, a lie
interest in electoral reform, a lie
So those two leaders are preying on the ignorance of the unsuspecting people, and its left to the people to punish them back!!

Well look lies, that’s a recipe for you to win them in an election, is it or isn’t it? Go for it then.
