Appointment of Sherma Dalrymple as DPP brings stability to that office, says Blackmoore

Sherma Dalrymple

After two years of acting in the post of Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Sherma Dalrymple has officially taken up the permanent appointment to that role.

In making the announcement, Minister of National Security and Legal Affairs, Rayburn Blackmoore lauded her contribution over the years to the office of the DPP, as according to him, her appointment brings stability to the office.

“I want to take this opportunity on behalf of the Ministry of National Security and Legal Affairs and the government of Dominica, to congratulate Miss Sherma Dalrymple on her recent permanent appointment to the office of Director of Public Prosecutions,” the Minister stated.

“Miss Dalrymple certainly is a great technician at what she does, and therefore, her permanent appointment will bring stability to that office, which is key to the overall administration of justice,” Blackmoore added.

Dalrymple was called to the Bar in Dominica in 2009 succeeding her graduation from the Hugh Wooding Law School.

Thereafter, she began her legal career as a State attorney in the Attorney General’s chambers in Dominica.

In 2012, Dalrymple transitioned to criminal practice and served as a State prosecutor in the office of the DPP.

She serves as a member of the Dominica Air and Sea Port licensing board, a director of the National Development Foundation, and a lecturer in paralegal studies and corporate and partnership law at the Dominica State College (DSC).

Dalrymple’s appointment succeeds that of the former DPP Evelina Baptiste, who held the post from November 1, 2013, to February 2021.

While Dominica News Online (DNO) has so far been unsuccessful in our attempts to speak to her on her new appointment, earlier this year she did state to the media that amongst the major priorities in the office of the DPP are firearm-related offenses.

“This year on our mandate is to put some serious work in respect of our firearms matters. We noted last year that there was an upsurge in these matters and as such, we are counteracting with the filing of complaints for trafficking in firearms.”

To expedite these matters at the court, the DPP disclosed that her office will have taken a decision to go through the paper committal route thereby “not going through the long drawn-out preliminary inquiry process.”

Meanwhile, Blackmoore further announced additional permanent appointments within the Ministry of National Security and Legal Affairs.

“Recently, 12 prison officers received permanent appointments at various levels,” he stated. “That is to say, one in the office of Assistant Superintendent of Prison, two in the office of principal officer, three in the office of senior prison officer, and six in the office of prison officer.”

According to the Minister, these employees were all previously acting and therefore the effective date of their permanent appointment is January 1, 2023.

“I want on behalf of the Government of Dominica, to congratulate those prison officers and wish them well. It is also my hope that they will redouble their efforts on the job.”

Blackmoore further averred that he is continuing his meetings with all the heads of the various departments within his ministry for the purpose of addressing outstanding issues.

Dominica Courts and Judiciary has been in chaos and under serious mismanagement for the past two decade. This poor young lady underneath the influence of a corruptly bent government cannot fix it! The whole Labour party cabal has to go for Dominica to be able to breathe and grow again! Until such time we are stuck in limbo with a reset which is more of an upset!

They are criminals in nature. So what they are actually doing is sending her a message indicating that, “We can make you, or break you.” So she can never (in her career) step out of bounds with the labor party. To me, this is mischievous and blackmail/Blackmoore. Because she has to play only by their rules. She cannot break away because money talks. That’s the Dominica Skeritt has formed and molded.

Lying Roosevelt + feeble minded Blackmoore + bendable Dalrymple = cockeyed Justice

Ignorance, al!led with power, is the most ferocious enemy justice can have. This is precisely what obtains in Dominica at present.

You make me laugh with all your descriptions of the Labour cabal. You made my day. Any description for the court house building, also? How about Melissa? You are very good at adjectives. At least I can say you know the 8 parts of speech very well.

Appointing this disciple of Roosevelt to the permanent position of DPP is an all out assault on the justice system in Dominica.

Roosevelt has eroded morality, seriously wounded the economy, completely destroyed the once thriving middle class, now, with this permanent appointment, he’s trying to dismantle the justice system, or better still, what little has left of it.

“The worst form of injustice is pretended justice.” This is what presently obtains in Dominica.

Nothing satisfies your insatiable and tasteless appetite. Nothing makes you happy. You must be a frustrated, disgruntled old man. You need to ask God for forgiveness for all the evil you have done in your life. You have so much hate and evil on your convoluted mind against that Government, it is unbelievable. Your wishes will just be your wishes. That is it and nothing else. Nobody listens to you, nobody takes you seriously. That is why Skerrit will stay electable, be it a snap election or a formal general election. What else is on your mind that you would like us to dismantle?

I would like these to be dismantled:
*corruption *injustice *opacity *bad governance *despotism *political tribalism *mongoose military gang

Don’t you need the mongoose gang to reduce crime? Corruption will never go away in any Government in this world we live in. All Governments in this world are plagued with corruption. If the UWP party is elected tomorrow, there will be corruption. This is one characteristic that no government will be able to stamp out. They will all live with it, they will all die with it.

Simply not TRUE. The only thing that the labor party is good and consistent at is lie. Everyone knows that she is a poppet.

Aren’t you a puppet also for the UWP cabal? Everybody who works in the government is a puppet. Are you gonna fire them all when the useless UWP party gets into power? Dream on, my dear. Not on this earth not on the next one.

@ds look you are in agreement with me by saying that I’m poppet also. You are not denying that this creature is a poppet. I would have been a poppet had I taken up a position in the crooked ruling party. De guy said, “I run things.” What he means by that is, “I pull the strings.” Every string has an end.
