President of Dominica Her Excellency Sylvanie Burton

President of Dominica, Sylvanie Burton, has been named among the top Caribbean Global Leaders for 2024 by the Caribbean Global Awards. The list of the leaders was announced this week. Burton shared the tenth spot on the list with Michel Reinette of Guadeloupe. Top of the list is the president of Guyana, Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali, who according to the organizers of the award, received 609 valid votes cast in the People’s Choice category.

“This record-breaking participation underscores the immense interest and engagement of the public in recognizing exemplary leadership within the Caribbean region,” they said in a statement.

‘The uther leaders are as follows:

2. Prime Minister The Honourable Mia Amor Mottley SC (Barbados)
3. Prime Minister The Honourable Dickon Mitchell (Grenada)
4. Prime Minister The Most Honourable Andrew Holness ON, PC (Jamaica)
5. Prime Minister The Honourable Dr. Terrance Michael Drew (St Kitts and Nevis)
6. Prime Minister The Honourable Ralph Everard Gonsalves (St Vincent and the
Grenadines)

According to the Caribbean Global Awards, “each of these leaders has demonstrated remarkable dedication to their respective nations and the wider Caribbean Community.”

“Their vision, commitment, and tireless efforts have significantly contributed to the region’s progress and prosperity,” the organization said. “The Caribbean Global Awards extends its warmest congratulations to all the winners and expresses gratitude to the public for their enthusiastic participation in this important recognition process.”

Burton created history in September last year when she became the first woman and first person of indigenous Kalinago descent to be elected President of the Commonwealth of Dominica.

Before being elected president, she served as permanent secretary in various ministries since 2014, including the ministries of Community Development, Foreign Affairs, Trade, Youth and Social Services and the Ministry of Environment, Rural Modernization, Kalinago Upliftment, and Constituency Empowerment.

Previously she worked as a development officer in the Ministry of Kalinago Affairs and held the position of District Development Officer (DDO) for an extended period. The mother of two also has 25 years of experience as a Justice of the Peace and has dedicated over two decades as a lay associate in the Roman Catholic Church. Her educational background includes a master’s degree in Project Management and a bachelor’s degree in Rural Development.

On its website, Caribbean Global Awards congratulated all the leaders who made it to the list.

“Heartfelt congratulations to all of the Caribbean Leaders for being named one of the top ten Caribbean Global Leaders in the recent People’s Choice category of the Caribbean Global Awards,” it said. “Your exceptional leadership, dedication, and significant contributions to your respective nations and the wider Caribbean community have not
gone unnoticed.”

The organization says it aims to recognize Caribbean leaders who show outstanding performance and accomplishments.”

“Caribbean Global Awards aim is to showcase awardees from around the globe who impact change,” it said. “We also will continue to recognize our African & Latin American communities – as we strengthen our diaspora links.”

Simply, she should not accept the award. She is not deserving. But is she honest enough to do that. She should state what her achievements are in just five months to warrant this award. Just another laughable moment.

This article was written and paid for to try to belittle the WORL BOSS. Traitor on board. Investigate the root and source. Jealousy and hate has a great part to play. Remember the Al Jazeera report? While THEY were crucifying THE WORLD BOSS, they were the culprit who got caught for the same crime HE accused the WORLD BOSS for. Tom drunk but Tom no fool.

I remember the look on those chinese face when your “world boss” was belittling himself by singing for them and being the entertainment? No leader in China would lower himself like that in Dominica, so why did he feel the need to do that? And still calling himself “world boss” in front those people. They were looking at him like WTF?? while fools like Cassani Laville cheered him on. Cassani, a trained engineer and former public works minister cannot even get the hole at the entrance of Mahaut, his constituency fixed, but he in China like a cheerleader for Skerrit. I tired with all you,

Take a survey throughout the Caribbean archipelago asking the name of the president of Dominica, 99.9% of the residents outside Dominica would not know. This is incontrovertible evidence that the assessment of the Caribbean Global Awards is seriously flawed. The thing they are perfectly right with omitting clueless Starboy of Stupidity from the top 100 leaders.

@ccs this shows that this survey is full of cow dung and might have a hidden agenda. Why were the Trinidad and Barbadian presidents not listed as leaders of their countries? Just a load of more rubbish.

LOL…of course she is a Caribbean woman and president of a country. That is not very common in our part of the world so no surprise here. Had they not named her it would be a darn shame so here we go. Its not like she did anything special, or well unless you know some of what has been alleged   to achieve being named. Oh the little things we allow to play on our emotions   . Its like announcing the SOS as a top 10 Caribbean girlyman or a King Liar. That’s already known things and it would be insulting not to name him because he holds such a high office

To be fair, start with listing the duties of the President, then show what she has failed to do in the short time that she has occupied the position. You could also compare the achievements of all the other presidents, when they started out.

Baloney, nothing more than decaying baloney! Prior to Roosevelt Skerrit crowning that woman president of Dominica, who’s duties are only ceremonial; I can’t remember her name, until they said a private citizen in Guadeloupe invited her to some party, they claim was her first official duty!
How come all of a sudden she happens to be among top Caribbean global leaders?
This woman is a nobody, never even lead a dozen people in her tribe on the reservation.
Note: “Burton shared the tenth spot on the list with Michel Reinette of Guadeloupe.”
A leader is someone with a vision and the path to realization, one who ensures support and all it takes to achieve some particular goal; in this case it should be a political goal!

This is nonsense. they spelled other leaders as uther leaders. the RANKING was for an award to be given to the best Caribbean leader. Guyana’s leader won as guyana has had a good momentum in the region since they found oil. As usual, DOminica was ranked LAST, and not even our “dear” Prime Minister was mentioned, but the President. Also, we tied for last place with the person in charge of Guadeloupe. Im not sure why Skerrit was not considered in this ranking. Maybe he is too much of a clown within the region and not really respected by the other Caribbean leaders.

@if we knew better, it is the top ten not the bottom ten. St. Lucia, Suriname and Belize did not make it to the top ten……

        April 10, 2024

Doesnt matter what category we in we always last. St. Lucia, Surinam and Belize are all doing MUCH better than Dominica. Surinam has plenty oil, Belize has production and trade that we CANNOT compare with and them times i see a number of DOMINICAN businesses closing here and moving to St. Lucia where the grass is definitely greener. No way can Dominica compete with Belize, Surinam or St. Lucia in 2024. We are losing and we are failing.

“Your exceptional leadership, dedication, and significant contributions to your respective nations and the wider Caribbean community have not gone unnoticed.”

To be honest, I sympathize with the PM of Dominica. This news is not ego stroking at all. The man has been PM for more than 20 years. He is celebrated locally by supporters for his “leadership.” He has even let it be known that he is the one who “run things.” On the other hand, the President, who was relatively unknown even in Dominica assumed the ceremonial duties of office 5 months ago (October 2023). And she made the top 10 Caribbean Global Leaders list and he didn’t? You mean 20 years have been eclipsed by 5 months? And, can it be that it has not gone unnoticed by some folks on the outside looking in, that the Emperor just seemed to have been masquerading in his doctoral underwear? And that they were not impressed? Congrats to all the Caribbean exceptional leaders.

    Global Awards based on the criterion of ” People’s Choice “.   It’s like a Queen show where voters’ decisions are based on who they ” like “, which is NOT an objective criterion. Now, here is the greatest insult to our intelligence : ” the record breaking participation “,awarded 609 valid votes to Dr Irfan Ali, president of Guyana!! Oh, what a representative sample!!
Moreover, ” their vision, committment and tireless efforts have significantly contributed to the region’s progress and prosperity “.
I don’t know how we judge ” progress and prosperity “, or for whom, but working here in Guyana with the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis for the past 2 years, this same Dr Ali signed a PSA with ExxonMobil to drill THEIR oil and Guyana gets 12.5 barrels of each 100 sold, 2% royalty, pays ExxonMobil’s tax and issues them a certificate so they don’t pay tax in the USA. Progress…

How is it that the World Boss is conspicuously absent from the list? What an affront to this egotistical dimwit for the Caribbean Global Awards to treat him with such callous disdain.

President Irfaan Ali has been catapulted to the apex position of the most influential political leader in the Caribbean. The newly discovered black gold has helped him to rise to this position. He has been leading CARICOM head on agriculture and being a spokesperson on other important issues.

By the way, these awards are usually meaningless. President Sylvanie Burton has done nothing of significance in her ceremonial position to cop even the 10th position. What issue has she led on to elevate the region?

The entire region needs a new crop of dynamic, imaginative, compassionate, trustworthy leaders to arrest the steep descent.

Okay, so she won the last place for being the first woman and first person of indigenous Kalinago descent to be elected President of the Commonwealth of Dominica.
But what has she done or achieved as President, as a leader, to be included in the Caribbean Global Leaders? Just being a Carib woman president?

But you all are crazy you know!
Asks yourself this question; who and what that woman ever lead in the Caribbean prior to Roosevelt naming her president of Dominica?

How can she in less than a year, or two years become a great global leader, when she is a nobody out of nowhere; global leader of what?
I don’t actually understand the reason for this which all seems bogs, and what purpose it serves, but I think it’s total nonsense, and I don’t care which other country prime minister name is on it.
Her name is linked to some man in Guadeloupe, that is her link to fame: We never heard of Guadeloupe a leader of anything in the history of Guadeloupe, we know however that Guadeloupe is a department of France, officially: (a colony) dependent of France, which takes care of all its internal and Foreign matters.
So, think of the garbage she is involve into; which people should not dignify by taking that crap seriously!

What really caught my attention is, almost all Prime ministers in the Caribbean was named except the one that named himself World Boss.

I see the president of Guyana, Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali
I see PM Motley of Barbados
I see PM Prime Dickon Mitchell of Grenada
I see PM Andrew Holness of Jamaica
I see Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves of St Vincent and the Grenadines
I see PM Terrance Michael Drew of St Kitts and Nevis
I see PM Phillip Davis of Bahamas
I see pm Keith Christopher Rowley of Trinidad and Tobago
I even see PM Gaston Browne of Antigua and Barbuda
To my surprise and shame I didn’t see PM of Dominica who’s been in office for 20 yrs! Instead they awarded Ms Burton in last place although she has less than a year as president.
So, am I to conclude that the Caribbean Global Leaders don’t recognize or see Rosevelt Skerrit as an exemplary leader? If so they sure got this one very right because that Roosevelt Skerrit is sure not an example of anything good. Corruption he…
