PM says promises made are promises kept; government commits to 5000 homes for Dominicans

Prime Minister Roosevelt delivering remarks

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has said that Dominica stands tall above the rest in the region and beyond in the provision of modern hurricane-resistant housing units to its citizens. He made that statement while addressing the handing over ceremony of keys to families to their newly constructed climate-resilient homes under Government of Dominica Housing Recovery Project (HRP) this week.

“In the housing sector in particular we have taken innovative steps to place vulnerable citizens in safer shelters,” he said. “So, I say with no fear of contradiction that Dominica stands tall above the rest in our reason and beyond in the provision of modern hurricane-resistant housing units to its citizens.”

Skerrit stated that the government’s approaches and the quality of the structures serve as a model that other countries have sought to follow.

According to the Prime Minister, for this government, promises made are promises kept.

“This is not merely a tagline, we have been true to our promise to ensure our people are housed in the highest quality, most resilient homes in the Caribbean,” Skerrit stated.

He assured the beneficiaries that his government would strive towards its goal of no less than 5000 homes for the people of Dominica.

Meanwhile, he pointed out that despite the challenges and the circumstances that have threatened to derail the government’s efforts, it has still excelled at creating opportunities for Dominicans to live more fruitful fulfilling lives, in education, in health, social services, and housing.

“We have been preoccupied with increasing the comfort of our citizens and giving them a foundation to build more rewarding lives.”

He has given the assurance that more homes will be built to the highest standards and handed over to deserving citizens.

Ya but how come billion$ made from selling CBI cannot help fix your electricity problems, and keep local part-ownership?
You had to give it right back to foreigners for another 25 years defeating the original purpose of cheap electricity we were looking forward to. WTF!

these houses in the pics are your best show off…..de people living in others similarly built by unqualified, run away with de money contractors feel like fools.
I understand that the world bank project was due to end in December but it was abandoned by the government since early summer.
houses incomplete people left unpaid……. how you going to meet that 5000 target.
apartment residents can give personal accounts of construction issues particularly with plumbing……. it’s not like MMC meeting de resilient standard either.
Skerrit is a fake, a big con
who sees it and feels it knows it
many keys have been handed over already…… not all would be proudly displayed by dat faker.
he wouldn’t even be honest and speak of the challenges.
a little over 400 houses you had to build in 2-3 years but you failed!
de money was enough so what was de real problem

The Government of Dominica Housing Recovery Project (HRP) is built on lies, deceit and a huge smoke screen. It is used as a lame excuse to account for billions of missing CBI money. Mark my words, in the coming years Skerrit will use this when being asked about the CBI proceeds, saying that most of it was used to built these structures. Let’s face it, these same structures are also being used as election bribes and housing for the toys of Ministers and other members of the cabal. It’s a win – win for a conman.

Run all the banks Prime Messier. You are giving homes to healthy young men and women and you are giving lands to foreigners. Soon you’ll hear closures of Credit Unions because it is through lending interest are made. No lending. No interest. Banks are gone, soon Credit Unions will follow and Skerrit will be left alone standing as Bank Freeness. What a ghost(Skerrit). But what happened to the electoral reform drama? What happened? What happened to the $4.2 billion? Dominicans zor par feb.

Skeritt should build a similar house for himself and his family to live instead of charging the poor country of Dominica $80,000.00 a month rent to live in HIS OWN HOUSE AT MOUNT DANIEL. It’s not good enough for him but it’s good for everyone else. What a unique breed of a man. It’s never a good idea to give power to a very poor and uneducated man. Now we see the results. He doesn’t want to leave because of the fears of going back in the open field where he may not be accepted or welcome. OJ cannot flap his wings and fly as he was accustom of doing. Now he must keep a very low profile where people scarcely see or hear anything about him. That’s the fear of those who wants to remain in power. And they’ll do anything imaginable to the extent of selling their soul to the devil and voodoo to remain in power. Some of these high government officials owe a debt to Haitians who have worked and continue to work their evil deeds in order to keep them in their position. These are Evil Days.

    Promises made – Promises kept
Here are some promises that Roosevelt made and he badly needs to keep:
    1. Whereabouts of the missing $billions from CBI scheme
    2. Pakistani university to replace RUSM
    3. Fixing feeder roads
    4. Making agriculture the #1 priority
    5. New and modern cruise facilities
The list of unfulfilled promises is inexhaustible.

How you expect UWPwee supporters to get houses? These houses were built with “jumbie money.” Besides, their leaders told them that they should not “beg Skerrit” for anything so they will not apply for the houses. You would not want them to be called “beggars” and “prostitutes,” would you?

“According to the Prime Minister, for this government, promises made are promises kept.”

Just one of the reasons why Dominicans will always choose Labour over the current opposition.

No dude. Minus the Chine$e money or even with it you can’t win an election, can’t fix electricity, can’t fix agriculture in 23 years. I realize it’s only 23yrs and not 53 but Eric Gary had more fun and messed his people straight up.
We need new eyes to look at the big picture for the benefit of all.
